Although Ansett flies still as Kendell etc. Ansett has become a microscopic airline compared to the airline it used to be. Ansett became bankrupt 2 days after Sept. 11th. Although the Airline itself has deteriorated, it's committed service towards it's customers has not.

The Decision

I flew with Qantas from London to Sydney. After arriving, my next flight on Virgin Blue to Adelaide was unfortunately cancelled. Because my friend was waiting in Adelaide, I went to the Kendell desk (note they have merged with Hazelton Airlines to become Regional Express.) And I was able to purchase a ticket for only $89 Australian.

The Flight

This Airline isn't one of those very cheap airlines. First you'll notice how clean and tidy the cabin is. The Aircrew are very friendly and are really helpful. During the short-flight, snacks and drinks were provided in big portions. Attendants didn't looked rushed and even took the time to get to know you. Now that's a good airline.

Baggage

Baggage was smooth and I received my bags quickly and smoothly. No Problems.

Museum (Not Related to Flight)

If you are as lucky as me, try visiting the Ansett Museum in Hamilton, Victoria in Australia. The history of the airline can be found at this museum. It is very interesting.

Experience with Them Prior to break-up

I've flown with Ansett prior to break-up. It was a flight from Osaka-Kansai to Sydney. The desk was smooth. The desk people were kind and got my baggage through quickly. Although I was 2kg overweight, they let me go. The first thing I find important in an airline is their kindness and their attention towards customers. Ansett sure had that.

During the long 11 hour flight, 3 movies were played.
Most International flights play at least 2, but Ansett brought out 3. Meals were quite good and refreshments were brought out even on demand by other customers. A person with breathing troubles was seen helped alot. Pillows and even a small air filter was provided for her. By the time I got to Sydney I was thinking "I'll fly with them again." But, I was wrong.

Why They broke up (From the Lonely Planet Guide to Australia)

Ansett was the largest airline in Australia. The main reason to it's break-up happened in the early 90's. Many of their Airplanes were forced to be replaced due to cracks in wings. Because of that, Ansett had to pay millions of dollars. Not only did their old planes go, so did their repetition. Despite great, kind service, many people didn't think the safety of the aircraft was all that great. Ansett was then bought by Air NZ. This brought down customers even more. Many Australians did not want their money going into New Zealand. After 2000 though, things started to look good again but when Sept. 11th came... bang. Hopes to revive the airline went nowhere and on Sept. 13th, Ansett announced that they'd cancel all flights and services. This left thousands of passengers stranded at airports throughout the country. So because of that, we do not have an Ansett anymore.

Finale

If Ansett were still it's size before the breakup, they would probably have offered one of the best international flights. Despite there downsize, they are still committed to serving you. For All Austrlian Internal flights, fly Ansett Regional Carriers. You won't be dissapointed.
