I first visited Antanarivo in july 2003 as the first phase of a month long expedition. After a 12 hour flight to the capital I was feeling tired and desparately wanted to get to my hotel however when we left the airport to pick our taxi the change in culture shocked me. We were greeted by children following us and asking for money. To be honest i found the experience a little intmidating. The journey to our hotel was fine, the bus not in the best condition and out luggage was tied to the roof ( make sure you deffinately watch your bag go on).
