Memories of Sicily
The island of Sicily lies off the south coast of Italy in the Mediterranean sea.
It is famous for its vast coastline, historic landmarks and for homing the biggest volcano in Europe. This was my third visit to Sicily and we were staying in the small coastal town of Taormina.
I sat, my head buried in my English book, writing a piece of coursework on 'An Inspector Calls'. I gazed up and cast my eyes over the rails that circled my balcony. I dropped my pen on the table. It slowly rolled off and cluttered through a small gap in the floor of the balcony. The view I was confronted with was staggering. My eyes weaved through the tangled city of chimneys. Their weathered terracotta tops balancing precariously on the tips of the hand made towers. Chimneys tangled up with archways of stone and exotic roof top ...

--- Catania - (cah-TA-nee-ah) Located to the east of Sicily, this region has many sights and places to visit. The most famous of these has to be Mount Etna. It's the largest active volcano in Europe and stands at over 10,000 feet! Because of the many eruptions, though, this figure is rising! There are organised tours available and hikes up the mountain and I would strongly advise using one. It gets chilly up there though, so pack some warm clothes for the ascent!
Some other places of interest are the 'Castagno dei Cento Cavalli' which means the chestnut tree of one hundred horses. This is apparently the oldest tree in the world and is a popular venue for tourists and scientists alike.
Another place worth a visit is San Gregorio. This village features some of the strangest grottoes in the world. They're home to bats and other creepies that ...

Advantages: Nice people, good food and wine, weather Disadvantages: Driving is scary
When you get married it is the job of the groom (traditionally) to arrange the honeymoon, unfortunately for me the husband is rather likely to worry about tickets and passports and arriving on time at the airport so we decided quite early on that in order to save our marriage (by the time we left we would have been married for a grand 48 hours) we would have to arrange things together. What we then decided to do (for we read I) was to take our honeymoon in Italy and I really wanted to go to Sicily and what the wife wants the wife must get, so Monday morning we checked the tickets and passports were to hand (about 15 times) and proceeded to Gatwick, let the adventure begin.
Sicily, as we all know has been kicked by nasty Italy, right into the middle of the Mediterranean Sea; to get there you will at some point have to jump on a plane ...

Manufacturer's product description
This neighborhood bakery with turn-of-the-20th-century wooden cabinets, marble-top tables, and cast-iron ovens is an institution. It serves the snacks that locals love -- and from which you can make an inexpensive meal. The big pan on the counter holds the delicious regional specialty pani cu' la meusa (boiled, sliced calf's spleen with Parmesan-like cacciocavallo cheese and salt). The squeamish can opt for the panelle (chickpea flour fritters), the fantastic fritto misto (assorted fried appetizers), or an enormous arancino (breaded, deep-fried ball of rice with tomato and meat or vegetable filling).
