Lagos in the Algarve!

Advantages: sunny!! friendly, relaxed, picturesque
Disadvantages: can be a bit too hot, not much shade, constantly people trying to sell daytrips

across the bridge to the port then there is a pizza hut and a HUGE mcdonalds was getting built). Has internet cafes (cheap prices- approx 2 euros for 30 mins while we were there). Has GORGEOUS beaches!! You can go down to Lago's beach which can be rather crowded but still is an amazing experience! Or you can go and visit many of the Algarve's other beaches. We met a couple that went to a beach close-by and swam around the corner to their own secluded beach! If there was someone there, they would swim onto the next one for privacy! There are many alcoves and beaches so privacy is free! Waterparks close by! Good for family day trips out! ----FEEL LIKE A TRIP TO THE ZOO?---- If you feel like a day trip to the nearby zoo then a little word of advice.. only go if you have a mobile to phone for a taxi to get you home or if you have ...

My Lovely Lagos

Advantages: A Great Atmospheric Town Bubbling with Life and Colour
Disadvantages: None

I don't know why it has taken me so long to get round to writing about Lagos. I guess when you live in a beautiful place you tend to take your surroundings for granted. It's six years now since I left Portugal but there isn't a day when I don't miss the colour and ambience. On days like today when Warsaw is a sea of grey I really miss the colours blue, white and yellow - sky, white-washed houses and sand. The first stop for visitors arriving in the Algarve will be Faro airport. Faro is a fine town ans has a lot to offer for a day trip but the first thing most visitors will want to do is to get in a cab or a hired car and drive to their hotel or apartment in the sun. There will be time to view Faro and its alleyways and harbour- front another day. My first memories of living in Lagos are when I lived on a boat in the fishermen ...

Review of Lagos (Portugal)

Sunshine, sardines and spoilt fishing villages in the Algarve

Advantages: Sunshine, beaches and scenic rocky coves, interesting inner towns
Disadvantages: Irish bars, fast food and tacky tourist shops

a dish shaped like a big clam and locks when closed to seal in the flavours. It was during the day and we didn?t see any anti social behaviour but it was like a British seaside place with all the usual tat. Any fishing village charm had been lost a long time ago. Okay so Albufiera was a total loss we need to explore further afield. We had hired a car so we thought we would use that and then also book a day trip to Lisbon for Tuesday which was done with little fuss by our resort reception staff. PONTA DE PIEDADE and CABO DE SAO VICENTE: Monday we chose to go westwards from Abufiera towards Lagos and Ponta da Piedade. I was a little worried that this might prove disappointing as by this time my husband was greatly under whelmed by our holiday so far however it proved to be a wonderful spot. We drove out along the A22 westwards until Lagos ...
