Rooms need modernising!
Review of Hawksbill by Rex Resorts, St. John's by
frankiecesca
Advantages: Food and staff
Disadvantages: beach isn't one of the nicer ones in Antigua and rooms terrible
On my recent trip to Antigua myself and my husband stayed at two hotels - this was the first one we stayed at and it was only the result of the first night at our chosen hotel being overbooked and so this was where we were sent for our first night in Antigua. The hotel is classed as a 4 star hotel and is based on All inclusive. We had been put in a Superior sea view room type to make up for being put in a different hotel so this review will be based ... ...a short ride away from the airport at about 15-20 minutes and is located in a place called five island where funnily enough there is five small islands out in the bay near it. It is approximately 4 miles away from the capital St. Johns.
Check in:
Check in was very easy with the girl on reception giving us a small form to fill in and then giving us some leaflets about the resort which included details of meal times and water sports available. We ...

A worth it resort
Review of Blue Heron by Rex Resorts, St. John's by
manulondres
Advantages: All inclusive
Disadvantages: quiet
This resort was really superb, just next to the sea. Really quiet depending period you travelling there. In October we were only 20-25 people. We got all-inclusive deal which wasn't ideal as most of the time we did all day excursion. The only good thing about all-inclusive a was very good (English) breakfast and twenty different cocktails!! The room got of course air-conditioned and really tidy.
Hotel was not far from the centre town and taxis were ...

Heaven in a hut
Review of Cocos, St. John's by
EMP100
Advantages: Tranquil, friendly, clean, value for money and more
Disadvantages: Maybe to quiet for those who would like entertainment
...available to people staying at cocos, this gave a huge selection to choose from and I personally eat anything but my husband is more the meat and two veg kind of guy so while breakfast and lunch gave a good mixture of basic plus more exotic meals the dinners were more of the exotic variety, but as you are in heaven you can ask the chef to make alterations or as in my husbands case one evening they prepared him a meal that wasn't even on the menu! ... ...small and provides all the essentials, this isn't a place to party it up. At the end of each week they had a party with dancing, by then you would have met the other 26 guests so its quite an intimate affair. Also there was a weekly barbecue at the sister hotel Coco bay, that was delicious, all the fresh seafood cooked in steel drums then dancing to the steel band. Location is actually Jolly beach, jolly harbour is around a twenty minute stroll. ...

A must visit place
Review of Cocobay Resort, St. John's by
peteandcesca
Advantages: Beautiful, and perfect for a romantic holiday
Disadvantages: Not good for those who want a lively holiday
...chosen to stay at the Cocobay Resort and it was truly the perfect place to have stayed. The hotel is all inclusive and is classed as a 3 star superior hotel. We both thought it deserved a higher tag than this though.
The resort is adult only and the rooms are each individual cottages so this allows for privacy and relaxation. The cottages are are pastel coloured of which my wife had wanted a pink coloured one but we ended up in a pale blue one! ... ...balconies with a rather large hammock on and two chairs. The bed in the room looks directly facing the balcony doors so it was gorgeous waking up to a lovely sea view in the morning. A ll rooms have a mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities but no tv's!! The idea of the resort is that is specialises in wedding and honeymoon couples and so they believe you won't miss one of these in the room! For those who just need to see some tv there is ...

Sandals Antigua
Review of Sandals Antigua Caribbean Village and Spa, St. John's by
watso75
Advantages: Lovely beach and fantastic sunsets
Disadvantages: Overall Accomodation not to standard
...what a dissappointment it was. Sandals Antigua promising the luxury get away for romatic couples was not what it appeared to be. We paid nearly £4000 for this two week all inclusive break and first impressions were ok. It was our honeymoon so we had been upgraded to a superior room free of charge, well i would have hated to have seen the basic rooms. We could not sit on the balcony because of large trees looming above. The aircon was noisy so had ...
