two stars, more like no stars
Review of Tourist Hotel, Antwerp by
duskmaiden
Advantages: location, friendly reception staff
Disadvantages: cracked sink, no shower curtain , tired room
...my recent stay at the Tourist Hotel in Antwerp. The Tourist Hotel is a 2/3 star hotel (depending on which website you consult) across the road from Antwerp's main railway station. I stayed there for three nights in August. We booked the hotel via a special offer in the Metro. We were attracted to it as it was very reasonable. We paid £135 per person for Eurostar travel and three nights accommodation (the deal was to get three nights for the price ... ...I can say about Antwerp's Tourist Hotel was that it was a place to sleep and wash, as it was not very welcoming to spend any more time than that in the hotel room. There is supposed to be bar with specialty beers according to the website but why stay there when there are a million nicer places to spend an evening especially the jazz cafe near the cathedral. The Tourist Hotel was just about okay for what we paid for it via the special offer but I ...

Park Plaza Astrid - A lovely place to stay
Review of Astrid Park Plaza, Antwerp by
SYVEG
Advantages: Luxurious, accomodating and friendly staff, family friendly, excellent location
Disadvantages: High chair was too trendy for our baby
...very plush hotel - the Astrid Park Plaza
There seemed to be an aquarium to visit, amongst other things to do (Aquatopia - absolutely brilliant, hopefully I'll write a review of it too)
We booked a Monday to Thursday trip in March 2008 through Expedia. The trip from our local tube to the Eurostar was painless and easy, and since this isn't a review of the Eurostar, I won't go into great details, but it was a very easy journey, with simple connections ... ...the pros and cons of this hotel as we came across them:
Location
The location was absolutely excellent. You come out of the Antwerp Centraal station, and cross a sort of pedestrianised square (trams and bicycles, but not cars). Directly in front of you is the hotel, perhaps 150 yards out of the station. It was very easy to find.
Staff
Immediately on arriving we were incredibly impressed by the staff in this hotel. They appeared on the pavement ...

A Roughly Cut Hotel In The City Of Diamonds
Review of Crowne Plaza Antwerp, Antwerp by
zoe_page
Advantages: Nice gym
Disadvantages: Location, lack of 'ooh' factor, price
...surprisingly, though boasting 4*s, the Crowne Plaza in Antwerp has a few things in common with a standard Travelodge or other similar motel chain. This is something you notice immediately on arrival, prompted by its location directly beside a motorway. The similarities continue inside too, with some of the rooms and parts of the public areas looking worse for wear despite an alleged recent refurbishment, and the hefty price tag associated with a ... ...an additional 'l' then the Crowne Plaza was keen to add the 'e' to have something else to bill you for. The hotels in this chain are not especially cheap - the standard rooms in the Antwerp one had rack rates of over 200 Euros with the business class rooms significantly more. For this money you would expect a decent standard of facilities and immaculate service, both of which were somewhat lacking in this hotel.
The rooms at the hotel are spread ...
