...I stayed in Barcelona for a two weeks languagecourse during september this year. I didn't have an idea which kind of city it would be; but already on the way to my youth hostel, which was situated directly at Las Ramblas, I knew that the time there will be just perfect - and I was right!!! Barcelona is just a great city - old buildings, nice, little streets, Las Ramblas, Sagrada Familia, the beach, many great bars and clubs - and last but not least sooo many great people!
Barcelona - definetly one of the best cities in the world!!!...

...Famed for its hosting of the Olympics in 1992 Barcelona is on the eastern coast of Spain. It is a destination served by many airlines from the UK and there are always great bargains to be found for holidays here. It is also a port of call for many cruises around the Mediterranean.
You must take a tour of the city and marvel at the impressive structures and cathedrals. The city has much of the history you would expect from an old European city.
If you fancy a cultural place to visit on the cheap, the Barcelona is the place to be....

Come to the beautiful seafront of Barcelona and enjoy the gentle sea breeze of Mediterranean Sea. You can even ride a cable car over the modern habour of Barcelona. It will take you to the clean sandy beaches (St Sebastia) just beyond the habour. The cable car also goes to a hill (Montjuic) where you'll find the vast Olympic Stadium (Estadi Olimpic), and a domed palace (Palau Nacional) which is now a museum of Catalan art. On top of the hill, there is a disused military fortress (Castell de Montjuic) that can be reached also by cable car. Up here, you'll appreciate the panoramic view of Barcelona city. To go down from Montjuic to street level, try the funicular railway (Funicular de Montjuic) or just walk down...
