The Galeonplaya has 2 large pools and 2 kids pools, none are salt water but none are heated either! It took very brave people to venture in on some of the cooler days! There are loads of sunbeds and you are asked not to bag them early with towels etc - this was not a problem in January, anyone who wanted to sit out poolside could.
Our apartment looked out onto the kids play area which would have bothered people without kids probably, but although our kids are much older, we were out most days anyway so it wasnt a problem.
The complex has a buffet restuarant for those who visit on a half board basis but if self catering you can buy a pass to the buffet, the more days you buy the cheaper it is but a breakfast was 5 euros and dinner 9 euros with plenty of choice and all you could eat. Firstly, to set the scene i'll give a short introduction to the country, and of course, more importantly, the weather!.....Lanzarote is one of the hugely popular canary islands, and one of my favourite holiday destinations. Although part of Spain, Lanzarote sits close to the North of Africa and because of this, benefits from the heat of the mainland. Having said that, since its a fairly small island, theres quite often a fair breeze flowing through the country, but dont let that put you off, its a welcome breeze in the summer heat and means that the island has very few annoying insects which is a definite plus! If there's one thing I looked forward to all year, its a summer holiday. We try out best to make sure we go away every summer, and to date we haven't had very many bad experiences with the hotels we have picked.
