Advantages: Good vale for money Disadvantages: Not much to do
...I visited Lanzarote in May 2000 for a one week holiday with the College part of my Travel & Tourism course. It was a ideal place for us to go as it had lots to do and offered many types of tourism on the island. My stay in Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen was a pleasant one. Local people were very helpful and they always helped as best as they can. Shopping was easy with a wide range of shops to choose from. Some products such as alcohol and electrical goods are cheaper out there than brought in the UK. During the day there was lots to do with Teguise Market, Aquapark, Golf, Timanfaya tour, shopping, and much more. I highly recommend the catamaran excursion, where you go out on a half day trip in a 1 million pound catamaran. It was very enjoyable and chance to relax and enjoy the sun and the sea! Advantages: Stunning landscape, small and easy to get around, lots of resorts Disadvantages: Little accommodation available outside resorts, whole island can be seen in a week

...Lanzarote is reputedly the hottest of the Canary Islands but unfortunately we managed to go when it was at its windiest and this was not pleasant. We stayed in the main resort of Puerto del Carmen which was reported as being the busiest. There are plenty of shops, bars and discos. The beach is OK but other Canary islands have better.
I think the main problem for us was that everything to do was in a long line by the sea; so you walked down the road from your apartments to the main road and turned left or right and kept walking past bars and restaurants until you felt like turning back then you turn round and walk back the same way. There did not seem to be much going on in the side streets which were mainly filled with apartments.
We did hire a car and go to Costa Teguise which was a resort that I...
