Apartamentos Las Orquideas, Grand Canary

Advantages: Great weather, nice people, excellent beaches
Disadvantages: Chilly in November/December, too cold for sea bathing, too touristy in some areas

...Well it was our family's very first visit to the Canaries and it was fantastic! We stayed in Paraiso del Sol in Las Playas de las Americas in Tenerife. The hotel was alright but the area was jam-packed with bars, clubs and resorts. Not to mention the 18-30 clubbers who only come out at night! Thankfully we had rented a car at the airport - excellent price too - and were able to drive to little beaches tucked away on the north-east coast that were visited mainly by the locals. They are absolutely beautiful beaches and with golden sand, not the black sand (volcanic) that is found in the tourist beaches like Las Americas and Los Cristianos. The weather was excellent sunshine-wise but the water was far too cold for us to swim and the evenings were too chilly for my liking. I think next time (and there will definitely be a next time... Advantages: Superb Facilities, Excellent Price, Lions on show!

...Las Vegas is synonymous with many things including opulence, splendour, outrageous facilities and everything "larger than life". Price, is one thing that is usually not associated with Las Vegas, however. Nevertheless, the MGM Grand Casino can now finally put that expensive reputation to rest. The MGM Grand is officially the second largest hotel in the world and offers superb facilitied, excellent sized rooms with superb levels of cleanliness and very helpful staff. The Casino itself is wonderful, as expected along with a vast array of restaurants with many resident super chefs. Along with all this you have the added bonus of an area where you can see real life lions who are in fact descendents of the original MGM lions! Overall a superb hotel and a superb experience. ...I am 14. I went and visisted the Grand Canyon for a night and a morning. It was great. The drive was very long (from LA to Las Vegas then Las Vegas to Grand Canyon-9 hours approx) but it was worth it. We went for at the night to watch the sunset and walked to one of the points through the forest. We saw deer and lots of exotic plants. The sunset looked great but it was a little scary sitting there on the edge with nothuing between you and the canyon. We also went in the morning and it seemed like a completely different experience in the daylight. I would definately go and if you plan to go to any of the adjacent states then visit.... Read review
