ARRIVAL
We hired a car at the airport and drove from Murcia along the MarMenor, it was a Sunday afternoon, out of season so the roads were fairly quiet. But having said this, we still managed to miss the turning into the development where we were staying. But it was no problem, once you get to the end of LaManga you can't go any further so we just turned around and headed back!
THE AREA
LaManga is a strip of land which stretches for approx 15 miles and this is the only route you can take to get to MarMenor. It runs alongside the MarMenor (inland sea) one side and the Med on the other, making for a very picturesque journey from the airport, once you leave behind the high rise apartment ...
Advantages: Golf, tennis and climate. Disadvantages: Few.
This is a HUGE area devoted to mainly golf, hence the name.
It has 3 championship courses, which will test the best low handicap players, as well as an 18 hole, par 47, ?family? course. The 3 main courses for adults, cost ?82.00 per round, while the ?family? course costs ?12.00.
There is an exceptional tennis club on-site, which caters for all standards and runs courses all the year round. Tennis courts cost ?23.00 per hour and coaching costs ?49.00 for up to 2 people for 45 minutes.
In addition to these 2 noted activities, there are a range of other outdoor pursuits to enjoy, from horse riding to various water sports.
I first visited here when it had only 1 golf course in the early 1980?s. The second course was being built and the main hotel had just been finished. Nowadays it is hardly recognisable from then ...
I love Hyatt hotels and LaManga is no exception. I have also reviewed this in more detail on Trip Advisor.
LAs Lomas is the apartment complex owned by the Hyatt group at LaManga. Superb accommodation, great facilities, but pricey.
Recommend the Freedom packages if you are going to play golf or tennis. To be honest I wouldn't go there if it wasnt to play golf as there are nicer parts of Spain which are much better value.
Golf is fabulous, in particular the South copurse which will rtest the best golfers, frustrating most.
Food -- higly recommend Amapola in the hotel.
Si! is a good place to take the kids as it has a safe play area right next to the dining room. ...
