The Voranovahotel was about half an hour from the airport and cost about 25euros, split between two, so wasn't too bad as the hotel transfer coach you could also book cost as much together and took about 2 hours stopping at every hotel that existed!
The hotel was in a good location, a few minutes walking distance from Palma Nova town centre and the beach. It was also about 10-15minutes walk to the centre of Magaluf. We got a bus to Palma City one day and this took about 45 minutes and was very crowded.
Just across the road from the hotel was a large supermarket and several shops including a pharmacy, there was also a taxi rank and bus stop.
The hotel being in Palma Nova rather than Magaluf was good as it wasn't too noisy and busy at night. There were plenty of small bars and resturants in Palma Nova. The hotel also had a resturant but I didn't want to eat there.
When the taxi dropped us outside the hotel, it looked very nice and seemed clean. There was quite a large car park outside aswell, incase you are travelling via car to the hotel. We checked in without any problems and then we went straight to our room, which we couldn't find for ages, the lifts were out of order and we were on the second floor, the layout was very confusing and we were walking around for ages before having to trapse across the pool area with our luggage and heaving it up two flights of stairs by ourselves, we weren't offered any help with our baggage!
The corridor were dark and dingy and the decoration and carpet was very old and dirty. When we got into the room we discovered it hadn't been cleaned since the last people had been in it. There were lipstick stained glasses, dirty towels still on the floor, unemptyed ash trays, dirty and messy bed sheets and a very dirty kitchen area. All you could smell was the unpleasant smell of stale ashtrays so we had to go to the supermarket and stock up on plenty of air fresheners. We had a balcony in our room, our view - a grotty, noisy and graffited skate park.
We went straight back to reception to ask to get the room cleaned but were informed the maid only came two times a week... meaning we would have to wait 2 or 3 days until we could have it cleaned, so we had to clean it ourselves but still sleep in dirty bed linen, it was completely unacceptable!
All the rooms in the hotel were self catering so came with a kitchenette, this was filthy, consisted of one hob ring, no oven and a sink! We had one plate and a fork but little else!
When we finally got the room cleaned and got fresh clean towels we could have a shower, which was powerful and a good standard of shower, which was also a bath, this came with an anti-slip map in it which was useful.
The hotel room walls were really thin, as every night all we could hear was this couple next door arguing for a long time!!
The staff at the restaurant were very friendly but a lot needs to be done with the cleanliness of the hotel.
We spent a lot of time by the pool, which was a nice large pool and always clean and lovely. The hotel provided free sun loungers but it was very difficult to get them and you were very lucky if then when you managed to get one, it wasn't broken.
We paid about £22 a night in April, which is out of peak season but even though this is cheap, it wasn't worth it.
I really enjoyed this holiday but only because of the area, so I would recommend the place but not the hotel!
