We visited Edinburgh on my hen night and I had previously stayed at the Apex City on buisness which is about 3 doors away from the Apex International.
All of our guests were arriving at different times as travelling from far and wide. As the bride I arrived first at 8.30am as my flight was an early one. We checked in but our rooms were not ready, the hotel offered to take our bags and then suggested an excellent breakfast eatery located on the Royal Mile. As we had just landed in Edinburgh we did not have much of a clue how to navigate the city - the staff in reception were excellent and even gave us a free map whislt advising of the best sights to see!!
Once we had had breakfast and done some sightseeing, we returned to the hotel to find that our rooms were ready (12.30) We were a party of 8 staying in 2 rooms!! The hotel then advised that our rooms were far apart and due to the nature of our visit I asked whetehr they could be next door to eachother. After a few minutes they had juggled our rooms and we were next to eachother witha spectacular unspoilt view of Edinburgh Castle.
Our rooms were Executive double doubles at 200 pounds per night (this meant that each person only paid 50 each per night - but shared a double bed!) As we were all friends, this suited our needs and also at an excellent rate including a full breakfast for all.
After arriving we left for dinner and returned later on to the bar where the waiters served us until we were finished, even joining in to chat!
The following morning, we went up to the top floor for breakfast in view of the castle. There were large tables which meant we could all sit together and the breakfast on offer was fantastic. Plenty of buffet muesli, cheeses, hams, yoghurts, fruits and cereals. On top of this there was full scottish breakfast, pancakes with fruit compote, smoked salmon with scrambled egg, smoked kippers and allsorts. The staff were excellent and re-dressed the table immediately for us.
Later in teh day after going around the castle, we asked spent some time in the sauna and pool and relaxed before the big night ahead. After we returned to our room and called room service who delivered ice buckets with champagneglasses. We weren't buying champagne but had brought some with us stored in the fridge!
When we went downstairs, they arranged taxis to our restaurant and again when we returned the bar staff were excellent and made sure our every need was catered for.
The following day, we had lunch in the hotel, just some focaccias and sandwiches which were reasonably priced and tasty.
An excellent weekend which was perfect thanks to the staff and the quality of our stay at the Apex.
Additional things in room - nice toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, fridge, robes, slippers, electronic safe, shower (and bath in some).
