Visiting the Colosseum in Rome is an experience you will not forget. I did not know what to expect when I went there.Everyone has seen photographs of the outside of the Colosseum and the inside as it once was has been reconstructed in many film sets. What did I really expect to see; I do not know but I suppose that I thought I would be disappointed at how little of it was intact or looked authentic. this was not the case though.
From the outside the Colosseum Rome is a strange building, when you try to take photographs of it you seem to notice how some pieces of its structure look at odd angles to other parts of it. The Emmaus hotel (three star), centrally located, with plenty of amenities on its door step, spacious rooms and friendly, helpful staff, makes a fantastic hotel. Whether a short break in Rome or a few weeks holiday, Emmaus has so many advantages that it makes any length of stay a stress free and pleasant visit.

Emmaus is minutes away from the Vatican (one hundred yards to be exact), so once you see that then you're almost there.
Or you could take the train from Ciampino airport (Ciampino FS) to Stazione Termini. The fare is ?2 and you'll be able to buy your ...

Advantages: A lifetime of sights to see, excellent transport, amazing ice cream Disadvantages: Very busy

After sitting through years of torturous Latin lessons at school, I had high hopes for the city. We managed to find possibly the strangest hotel in Rome to stay in, the Hotel Giarda, near Stazione Termini, where they monitored our every movements through strategically placed security cameras, and the chamber maids had a good daily rifle through our luggage, but other than that it was well situated for exploring.
Here are my top Roma sights (in no particular order):
Vatican City: Even though this is slap bang in the middle of Rome, the Vatican is technically an independent state, with the Pope as sovereign, its own post office and legal system, and definitely ...
