The Aqua Rock waterpark is the main waterpark on the island of Menorca. Situated at the back of the resort of Cala n Bosch it is one of two which is the biggest but possibly the smallest one you will visit anywhere. The alternative and smaller one is in Cala n Forcat.
The No:65 bus from Ciutadella will take you into Cala n Bosch, various other bus services from other resorts will take you to Ciutadella, there you will change to the above bus service (unless you have a car)
Menorca is the second largest of the Baleric islands and with the biggest family holiday packages sold to Menorca by nearly all the tour operators the waterpark is a disappointment.
Ample car parking is available right outside the entrance gate, no charges for
parking cars.
The park is open from 10.30am until 6pm (local time) daily
Prices are €17.20 for adults over 11 years and €11 for children. Infants 0-2 years can enter the park for free. The prices are a little expensive for the size of the park and hidden extras lurk beyond the entrance gate. Prices are reduced late in the afternoon for late admission between 3pm and 6pm (close). Prices are then reduced to €10.50 for adults and €7.20 for children.
As you enter, a games area is to your left with kiddies rides, trampolines, games machines for teenagers and a covered seating area.
As you take a stroll into the park you will notice its four slides of which offer different levels of excitment (but dont get too excited). At the base of the slides are rings which can be used for going down the slides such as the Black Hole. If their is two of you double rings like the number eight are provided but limited.
A main swimming pool with a jacuzzi is the first pool you come too it is not large but you can have a good swim, the attached jacuzzi although comfortable and relaxing (if you can get in) is not heated.
Just behind that pool is a kids pool with small slides and a safe depth to let them loose but signs around the pool ask you to keep supervision of your children.
A third pool which is probably the most entertaining in the park (for about 15 minutes) is by the side of the kids pool and behind the main pool. You walk into a shallow depth and the further in you go the deeper the pool gets. About twice every hour a warning siren is given and the pools wave machine is activated.
Dotted around the park are numerous lifeguards who keep a constant vigil on the activites going on, and keep the teenagers behaving appropriatley.
A fair amount of sunbeds are located around the park, well, as many as they can fit. But to take advantage of a sunbed you would firstly need to obtain one if you get there early enough and then pay €3 for the priviledge. If you dont want to pay the €3 then a grass area behind and to the side of the big slides is available to lay your towels down.
The park has its own onsite restaurant which can be pricey, various meals like omelette and chips, salads etc are available which can be consumed in the restaurant or the covered seating area just outside of it. Vending machines are also available for drinks at various prices. As it is pricey you would be tempted to take your own food and drink, but im afraid that picnics are not allowed!
An onsite medical facility is available with changing rooms with showers and toilets next to it. Lockers are available for hire with an attendant who sits and sells drinks, sweets and merchandise such as Aqua Rock T-Shirts etc.
The park is very clean and well maintained but children and adults must be careful, the whole park is concreted, a short slip or fall can cause injuries.
The park happens to also be situated right next to a go-karting track, so if you start to get a bit board then get your hand stamped so you can return back in and pop to the track to support the drivers or have a go yourself. Competitions are available. A single rider can expect to pay around €15, double riders for one Kart can expect to pay around €16 and competitions are priced around €30 per kart! This will definatley keep the bigger kids and adults entertained.
If you have happened to travel from a further resort with your tour company or even made your own way, take the option to pop into the Marina of Cala n Bosch for a couple of hours, the food is cheaper and the man made marina or Lago cala n Bosch (Lake Cala n Bosch) is a must see. Glass bottom boats come and go on a regular basis. Don't forget that siesta is from 1pm until about 5pm, so it is usually very quiet, but restaurants remain open. If you do do this, again, get your hand stamped as you leave the gate.
Despite its colurful appearance, a wave pool and various slides, the park does not offer much else to it customers for the price they pay for entry. Added costs for sunbeds, pricey food can make the day an expensive one.
It will undoubtedly keep the kids amused who can be seen continually going up and down the slides and in and out of the wave pool.Photos can be found on its website for a better picture of the park but use these handy hints to keep the costs down, which should make it a good day out.
Try and take your own drinks (hide them in your bag)
Just pay the entrance fee
Take a stroll into the marina for some dinner
Take a few large towels to sit on the grass
