A Wicked Little Tasmanian Devil..... In Greece!!

Advantages: Family Run, Tranquil Location
Disadvantages: Unsuitable For Those with Walking Difficulties

The Choice... My partner and I have been travelling to Greece for many years and spend cold winter evenings browsing brochures religiously for a new place to visit. On one particular evening we decided on the charming fishing village of Elounda in North Eastern Crete and settled on the Tasmania Village as our choice of accommodation, which we booked through Kosmar as a package at just under £700 for 2 weeks during peak season. The Location.... After landing in Heraklion we travelled by coach for approximately 2 hours travelling along the main coast road when we finally snaked over the precarious hill from Agios Nicholas down into the village of Elounda, past the village square - which is lined with an array of tavernas, bars and shops and the harbour where fishing boats and caiques advertising trips to the nearby Island ...

A Viewing Window for Flavours and a True Taste of Greece

Advantages: Fantastic menu, a View to Swoon Over and Dishes to Die For....
Disadvantages: You'll be Spoilt for Choice!

Location The Ergospasio can be reached via either the main road into Elounda, if travelling by Taxi ask the driver to stop at the top of the bend as you reach the village.. a shout of Mam's (a rival restaurant established for year's) should do the trick... the Ergospasio is situated directly opposite.. If on foot follow the Taverna's along the harbour front until you hit the start of the 'Causeway' an unmade track... Ergospasio is the first Taverna you will meet on the further strip of 'organised' track you meet. Review of Haroupo Ergospasio, Elounda

Holidaying On A Budget

Advantages: Economic accomodation
Disadvantages: Very basic

The Elounda Gulf, is a very basic accommodation offering. It sits just to the East of Elounda itself (approximately 10 minutes walk) and overlooks the bay and a variety of Hotels. The complex is a series of Chalet style accommodation, each suite sits slightly higher that the last carved into a slow rising hill. On the two main occasions I have stayed here I have spent my time at the top tier of the complex. All the suites are identical, none better internally than the other. The bonus for us was of course that we got the better view. The only downside was that the best views that could be had were on the other side of the complex, and no rooms have windows facing out in this direction for some unknown reason.
