Advantages: Quiet location, nice friendly people, very relaxing stay Disadvantages: Evening food not for everyone's taste
I stayed at this hotel during the half term holiday in October 2006 with my wife and our young daughter. I found the hotel had a great position as it was back off the main road, and right down on the beach.
The rooms were reasonable, though I am easily pleased due to not staying in the room for long. My attitude is that its just somewhere to sleep. Though they were clean, and the bathroom was good.
The weather was still 25-30 degrees centigrade every day and due to the time of the year the resort was not busy. I stayed in the hotel on a half board basis, though we weren't that keen on the evening meal options and usually went to a nearby taverna (of which there are many). The cost of a meal is very reasonable.

We stayed here in January/February 2007. This is the secind time we stayed here. The first time was about 4 years ago when we booked as part of a package through Airtours. This time we booked the flights and accomadation independently and saved a lot of money.
Our flights were on scheduled aircraft. London Heathrow to Gran Canaria via Madrid with Iberia. The return with Iberia to Madrid and British Airways to Heathrow.
There are a choice of 1 bed bungalows(which we booked last time) and 2 bed bungalows, which we had this time. The bungalow was roomy. The lounge had double glazed double doors onto the patio which was huge, it covered two sides of the property. There was a sideboard type unit which had a portable TV (which was coin operated) There were a few channels you could watch including Sky News.

I have visited Ala Moana several times. It is really one of the best shopping centers I have ever been to (I have been a lot in US and Europe). What I liked the most is that there are many shops starting from medium to high budget, having famous designer goods. The Information Desk staff is very helpful and nice. Lots of small bench areas between shops - so you can leave your family to rest for some time if you want to have a look at some stores - and the family feels good because of really good atmosphere inside, open air.
This shopping center has the first floor dedicated to all type of restaurants and cafees, so you can eat really quickly and for the price you want. On the top floor they have some beautiful restaurants, having Hawaiian music and dances, with very good service.
