Advantages: beautiful scenary, black sand, Aegean sea, Vulcano, rich history
Disadvantages: bus connections

...the whole beach look really beautiful. Warning though, the waves can be annoying for those who don't like it and the water is very dirty!!! If you want un umbrella and a chair, you have to pay for it, but what you'll get is another story. - Oia: Many claim that in Oia there is the most beautiful sunset in the world. I can't guarantee for that since it wasn't visable the day I was there. The place was really nice. Very touristic, you have to be quick catching a bus there. - Thira: It's almost impossible not to go there. It is the center of Santorini. Many restaurants, giftshops, the view is very nice. The walk through the town is very interesting and unique, the streets are narrow, mostly going up (it's on a hill), every now and then a donky comes along… - Prehistoric Museum: Contains artefacts, frescos…from Akrotiri and Ancient Thira. Review of Santorini (Greece) by birdie

Advantages: beautiful
Disadvantages: black beaches, expensive nightlife, coupely, a bit boring!!

...Santorini is a beautiful volcanic island located in the south Cyclades. It is easily accessible by inexpensive ferries from numerous other islands including Crete, Naxos, Paros and Ios. The main areas to stay in Santorini are the capital Thira and Kamari. Thira is quite hectic and is the preference of youths visiting for a short period of time to investigate the nightlife. Kamari, however, is a bit more laid back and I would say more pleasant. Although eating and drinking out is expensive in Santorini, accomodation prices are surprisingly reasonable - many studios with unsuite bathroom and pool go for around £12 per night per person. I would not recommend Santorini to those who want to spend their vacation lying on a beautiful sandy beach. Although Santorini is charming, the sight of package holiday makers lying under umbrellas... Read review

...During my recent trip to Greece I had the pleasure of visiting Santorini. At first sight when you enter the bay area you are surrounded by huge cliffs of volcanic matter with a central island(actually a still active volcano). I was taken in at once by the islands' superbly natural wild beauty. Whilst on the island I stayed in the main town of Thira, and was enchanted by the numerous cobbled narrow streets enclosing hundreds of restaurants, cafes and bars, all set at the edge of the cliff. The sunset at Ioa was incredible.... A must for any island hopper....... Read review
