We had never taken and all inclusive tour before nor had we used Archers. What a superb choice they turned out to be.
The Wonders of China and the Mighty Yangzte was a fortnight of sheer delight. Every travel arrangment worked without a hitch, our tour director Kitty Shi could not have been more helpful and friendly, hotels were more than adequate and the food we enjoyed, albeit a little westernised at times, was exceptional.
The cruise ship is certainly not liner standard - rooms are clean and well serviced but if you want luxury you may need to consider paying the premium for the Presidential Suite!
This is not a tour for the faint hearted and you do need to be fit - there is a considerable amount of walking and steps to climb most days - the Great Wall is a particular physical challenge but not to be missed! Each day startsd quite early and we were well occupied. Perhaps a little more free time would be a bonus.
City Hotels were carefully chosen, comfortable but often out of the main centre; hpwever for the reasonable basic cost no one should be expecting a central location. We were receiving the same and often better treatment than co-travellers with agencies charging far higher prices.
If you have the choice do take the Virgin option for travel to and from the UK - they certainly have the edge on Air China.
This tour was a treat from start to finish. It is certainly a culture shock if you have not been to Asia before, but Archers soften the blow with professional attention to detail and exceptional friendly service - what more can one ask? We certainly had great value for money and memories by the score.
Kate Strong BristolVisiting China is a real treat and the cruise along the Gorges was particularly enjoyable - the President 2 is certainly not cruise liner standard, but the cabins are clean and service standards good. There is no faulting the catering - do try to get the hang of chopsticks before you go!
