Advantages: Friendly, hospitable people, wonderful countryside and a real sense of history Disadvantages: Once you've visited you'll never want to leave!

ST GILES AND THE PLAIN STONES
In the centre of Elgin stands the imposing, neo-classical St Giles Church. The steps in front of its porticoed columns play host to the youth of the city and more recently the plain-stones, which is the area around the church, sees a Farmers' Market at regular intervals where locals (and visitors) can buy fresh produce, plants and other items. Behind the church lies a little jail-house into which criminals were once thrown. Braco's Banking house and what used to be the Tower Hotel, are two of the oldest buildings in the town. Off the High Street run a series of lanes, or 'wynds', some of which are of great interest to historians.

Advantages: lovely food and good service from the waiters Disadvantages: Everthing else about the place
...I have already done a review about Blackpool, and I absolutely love the place, we went to Blackpool two years ago on a family holiday, myself husband and three kids. We booked our holiday through The Belfast Telegraph travel agentsand we went through Ulster Bus tours, the price was £800 approx this included traveling expenses and the hotel.(Bed, breakfast and evening meal). The hotel was the Elgin and we were told that this was a great hotel for families.
Arriving at the hotel
We arrived at our hotel at about 7.30pm and had to que at the reception to get our keys this I didnt mind but our dinner was at 7.45pm and we still had to get our luggage to our room, we got our luggage sorted and went down for dinner, the food was beautiful and the service from the waiters was fantastic.
First impressions of the hotel

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Noisy with rooms of a poor standard
...Victorian City Centre Hotel close to Snow Hill Station in need of modernisation, not very convenient if travelling by car as no hotel Car Parking available.
Nearest multi-storey by Snow Hill Station is considered unsafe for overnight parking. Receptionist advised that if car was left in this car park then ‘radio would be gone in the morning’. Suggested we parked car in secure car park whichwas five minutes walk from hotel.
Given noisy cold room with windows that would not shut, complained to duty manager and given executive room as alternative that was equally bad.
Bistro Restaurant: Reasonable meal but service slow.
Breakfast: Buffet very poor, staff exceptional unfriendly.
Summary:
Avoid, Expensive, not up to modern standards, most rooms noisy as face onto roads....
