Archipelago Studio Apartments, Port Douglas

Advantages: fun and informative
Disadvantages: some might think touristy

...Hartley’s Creek Crocodile Farm is forty km from Cairns on the beautiful coastal road to Port Douglas. The Crocodile Show (although some might think it a bit touristy) was nevertheless informative and entertaining. We saw the crocodile head shake and the death roll and learned a lot about these prehistoric monsters. It made me think twice about swimming in the sea having heard some of the tales from Steve the keeper. Apart from the crocodiles the kids were happy to stroke the koalas, dingoes and kangaroos. They were fascinated by the talk given by the reptile keeper and we learned what to do in case of a snake bite. A fun and informative time was had by all.... Read review

...Santorini is the most beatiful island in the Aegean archipelagos.If you want holidays that you will never forget try this island.Is very easy to get there by taking one of the boats from the port of Pireaus.It takes about six hours to get there.The island is volcanic and the houses build on the island rock overlooking the sea.No cars or bikes allowed only mules.There are also ruins of archeological interest.Dated back at the second millenium B.C.There are plenty of small hotels and rooms to rent.I would suggest to visit this island before anything else.... Advantages: lots to do, great beach
Disadvantages: box jellyfish in the hot wet season

...Someone asked me yesterday whether they should stay in Cairns or Port Douglas and I had no hesitation in recommending the latter. It is much smaller than Cairns and far more attractive. There is loads to do in PD and surrounding area eg the Daintree River where you can take a trip to see crocodiles and other wildlife, visit the rainforest, Mossman Gorge, drive to the Atherton Tablelands where you can go hot air ballooning and of course you can do the Quicksilver trip out to the Reef. The beach at PD is superb so it's best to build a few lazy days into your schedule. There are many good restaurants in PD, a favourite of ours being the Starfish which specialises in shellfish....
