Cosy at an international standard in the centre of Klagenfurt\\\'s old town - 71 comfortably furnished rooms with state-of-the-art equipment. The legendary Cafe Moser Verdino - cafe, bar, restaurant and trendy lounge, 3 conference rooms - an ambience with daylight. A public garage is 1 minute away from the hotel. The door to the south is always opened - also for a return. Shopping and culture - enjoy the old town ambience of the city in the south of Austria. We captivate through Carinthian charm, combined with Mediterranean flair - and are looking forward to meeting you again! \\\Dolce Vita\\\" - within the last years, the award-winning restaurant in the centre of Klagenfurt has been getting more and more popular for business appointments as well as for culinary Tete-a-Tetes. As the name already indicates, the \\\"Patron\\\" exclusively creates Mediterranean specialities. He does so with high competence and sure instinct and hence always succeeds to subtly add individual nuances full of fantasy. As far as the wines are concerned, the \\\"Patron\\\" offers a delicate assortment of wines from Austria, Italy, Spain, France and overseas."
Advantages: Alternative and cheap access to eastern Austrian skiing and beautiful Slovenia Disadvantages: Very small with sometimes awkward connections into town
...I spent a year living in Klagenfurt so used this airport a lot then to get home to the UK for Christmas birthdays etc. Back then there were only flights to Vienna or Zurich, leaving me with another two flights to get to my home in Manchester. This 6 flight round-trip wasn't cheap.
However, Ryanair now fly there daily from London Stansted for anything from about 99p up to around £89.99 at the most (each way).
To acess ski resorts in the eastern Austrian alpine provinces of Kaernten (Carinthia) and Steiermark (Styria), as well as the beautiful former yugoslav country, Slovenia, this airport is ideal. I would even recommend it if alternatives were too expensive for a driving tour into northern Italy, and for skiing in the Salzburg and eastern Tirol regions if flights into Salzburg prove to be more expensive (which they often...

Advantages: Fairly cheap, lot of outdoor pursuits, Cheap flights from Britain Disadvantages:
...Carinthia, or Kärnten as it is known in German, is Austria's southernmost province. Traditionally the Carinthians have been the butt of many jokes, but Carinthia is a wonderful province.
The main places in Carinthia of interest are Klagenfurt and Villach, and the Shrove Tuesday (Faschingdienstag) celebrations in Villach are nationally acknowledged as the best. If Villach doesn't inspire you then you can always head from Villach on to Venice (ca. 3 hrs by train) and enjoy the carnival in Venice. Klagenfurt is a fine city, with a great deal of heritage.
Villach and Klagenfurt are separated by the Wörthersee which takes in picturesque towns like Velden and Pörtschach. The Wörthersee is great for families, there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, and for cyclists it is relatively flat around the Wörthersee and this is a great...

Advantages: affordable prices, lots to do, great climate Disadvantages: GTI rally is definitely best avoided
...– Tauernautobahn) and from Ljubljana (A11 Karawankenautobahn). The airport at Klagenfurt (25km from Velden) now has a lot more flights, including a route from Gatwick, and there are also airports in Graz and Ljubljana within 100 miles radius of Velden. The train station is on the mainline from Vienna to Villach, with Villach being a destination for trains to Salzburg/Munich, Italy, Slovenia and Hungary, and trains stop regularly. From the station to the lakeside it is no more than 5 minutes walk. The train takes about 4½ hours from Vienna to Velden, and is usually direct, or at most a single change, the journey being well worth doing.
What to do there:
Velden’s location, on the shore of the Wörthersee makes it a great place for watersports and there is a wide range of activities, from sailing, with small sailing boats...
