Advantages: Beautiful scenery, friendly people, lots of daylight (in summer) Disadvantages: Food, Lots of driving, lots of darkness(in winter)
...like this for most of the way north. We passed through a weird moon like landscape as we passed into the Arctic Circle, but this was temporary and on the whole remained stunning until almost at the top when everywhere became more barren.
One of the highlights of the journey was the herd of reindeer at the entrance to a tunnel. They like the warm air blowing through apparently, and they refused to move even with a large coach approaching with horn sounding loudly. It took the driver getting out and clapping wildly amongst them to make them move. Very funny at the time - not so funny when I had to do the same so we could enter the tunnel.
Anyway we eventually reached Nordkapp and the visitors centre. This mainly consisted of a Post Office where you could send postcard with a special stamp, a restaurant, and a large shop selling souveneirs...

Advantages: Location, lovely rooms, very clean, friendly reception. Disadvantages: Bar prices!
...I stayed at the Tulip Inn (Trafford Centre) early in August as the Arctic Monkeys were playing at Lancashire Cricket Ground.
When we arrived the car park was quite full but had plenty of spaces, even though the hotel very obviously very busy.
There was no conceirage at the hotel waiting to take your bags or even give you a hand on the way in, as there is at many hotels, but we didnt really expect this.
When we arrived at reception the hotel was very busy and so was the bar, which is right at the front of the hotel next to reception. The positioning of the bar seems to cause problems at the hotel when busy.
Anyway the receptionist was great and the check in was very fast!
When we arrived in the room we were pleasantly surprised, the room is quite big and the bed was huge and very comfy! All the usual extras were there, television...

Advantages: Central location in town, funky and chic hotel Disadvantages: Feels like staying in IKEA without the advantage of it being cheap
...**Introduction**
It was a surprise to me that Iceland is the same size as England - I had thought it was a rather smaller island. The population, around 320,000 people, is only in total the size of one of the medium cities in the UK. More than half, about 170,000 people, live in the capital Reykjavik, or in its immediate vicinity. This is in the relatively milder south-west of the island (the north is just about within the Arctic Circle). This is the most northerly Capital City in the world - and in September, it was already cold - more like a British November.
I enjoyed my visit and want to tell you about the Radisson SAS 1919 Hotel, where I stayed.
**Location and how to get there**
This hotel is in central down-town Reykjavik, just near the harbour. Most visitors arrive at Keflavik, Iceland's International Airport on a peninsula...

Arctic Silver 5 (AS5) is one of the most recommended TIM (thermal interface materials) by enthusiasts. Its made using actual silver, which is pretty cool, and it does look pretty cool when it comes out of the tube.

I bought this cooler the other day on Amazon and it arrived today, thankfully 20 minutes after my new cpu did.
The first thing that struck me was that the fan is positioned to the side of the heatsink rather than on top of it. Thus blowing hot air... more
