From Dublin to Connemara
Review of Connemara (Ireland) by  herbb

Advantages: breathtaking coastlines
Disadvantages: mobilhomes spoil the beaches

...From Dublin to Connemara A brand new Nissan X-Trail was waiting for us at the Hertz Outlet at Dublin Airport which made my wife lighten up just after having to go through the mess of filing a complaint at the "lost-and-found" counter because Austrian Airlines forgot our golf gear back in Vienna. I counted no less than 8 stickers in the car that said: "Drive on the left" which seems to be a great problem for many visitors from the continent or the US of A. Well, the steering wheel was on the right side, the car had automatic transmission, so the change was no hassle at all and in an instant we were on Road 156 to Mullingar from where the 390 took us to Athlone, our first stop at the southern end of Lough Ree. Review of Renvyle House Hotel, Connemara by  lulu2004

Advantages: Away from every where for a break. stunning countryside
Disadvantages: it wasnt family friendly for us at all

As we have a one year old we were a little loathe to fly anywhere on honeymoon as he is quite lively and we wanted to relax, rather than spend a plane journey running up and down the aisles of a plane after him. So after some research we booked the Renvyle House Hotel in Connemara, Co.Galway, Ireland. It is a 4.5 Hour drive from our home and we had planned to take the journey in two stages while our little one was asleep. I had read reviews about the Renvyle and how family-friendly it was. This was the most important aspect of booking our honeymoon. So after a call we had booked four days there, although we did not realise it was a bank holiday in the Republic of Ireland when we had booked so we had no idea how busy the hotels all were. However the receptionist was very friendly and we booked... Read review
