Advantages: location, staff, breakfast, nightclub Disadvantages: if you have a room on the front could be tiny!!

We all had standard rooms and the only thing i would point out about this is that myself, my fiance and two of our friends had rooms next to each other in the back of the hotel and our rooms were brilliant on the 3rd floor - we were in the back of the hotel and especially our room which was at the end of the corridor, was pretty big with a really large double bed! However, our other friends who stayed in the front side of the hotel had a really small room so i would recommend you request a room at the back to avoid the small rooms!! When we were there though they were in the process of renovating the 4th floor and they may have only been using the smaller rooms until this was done. The hotel staff were excellent and they have a hold room for your luggage whcih we used before check in as we were quite early and couldn't check in til 2pm as the hotel was full(not a surprise as it's really popular and it was constantly busy). We also used the room on our last day after check out and they were happy to let us again. Small note to say if there is a lady there called rachel on reception who was the GM at the time she is excellent and very helpful!
The hotel location itself is fantastic. It is on bachelors walk so you are literally round the corner from o'connell street. The hotel is overlooking the river liffey and so you can walk acroos the ha'penny bridge which is just a about 50 yards down from the hotel and straight into the temple bar area, of which then you can go on into the grafton street area too. Don't be put off by the horrendous yellow colour of the building outside as inside the hotel also has a brilliant bar area that gets pretty busy in the day for matches etc and a restaurant(which we didn't eat in unfortunately but looked lovely) The hotel bar at night becomes a nightclub and it is one of the popular ones in dublin - we also found out that the prices on drinks in here were cheaper than soe of the other bars we went into whcih is quite good considering it is a hotel club! The dj played a good kix of dance, r&b, pop, and classics. It has two floors and the lower floor tends to be a more older blend of music but, it means there is somehting for everyone!!
We had breakfast included in our hotel stay and the lady who runs the breakfast is so nice - she always came over to make sure you were ok and had a friendly chat with you whcih i thought was great service - food wise it was good selection and very fresh as so many people were in at one time, the chefs were constatntly putting fresh grub out!
one thing to note is though is that it might not be suitable for families as the nightclub means quite a lot of people coming in late who sometimes could be quite noisy!!
A fab hotel and i i have already booked to go back for next year!
Advantages: In the centre of Dublin Disadvantages: Rooms in need of being redecorated
The Arlingtonhotel is in the centre of Dublin nest to the river Liffey. I went with my husband and 7 other friends- which ended up with us requiring 3 double rooms 1 twin room and one single- we booked online and took up their offer of the winter madness (this meant by going Monday to Wednesday we would have free breakfast both mornings and one free evening meal for ?99 per person per night) this was available for us all except for the one who booked a single room and had to pay for his meal.
Booking for this many people online we were a bit worried that there would be a lot of problems (it's not the same talking to someone on the phone) and when we arrived sure enough only 2 double rooms had been booked but the hotel reception staff were very efficient in getting us another room that would be ready the same time as the others. Then ...
Advantages: City centre location Disadvantages: Expensive, noisy at night times.
The ArlingtonHotel is situated in the heart of Dublin, just off O?Connell Street, and across the river from the Temple Bar area of the city.
The entrance hall and adjoining Knightsbridge Bar are decorated like something out of a medieval movie, complete with a faux set of armour. While the entrance and reception are always well lit, the bar is quite dark even during the day.
According to the hotel?s website, it boasts 131 rooms, ranging from double rooms to twin and even triplet rooms. On my last visit, we stayed in a twin room. It was lovely and spacious, and there was a TV, en suite bathroom and a kettle (complete with tea and coffee).
We had a good view across the River Liffy. At first, we thought this was fantastic - until, of course, night descended. The wind roared the whole night, traffic rattled by, and we could hear ...
Well this is the only hotel in the world I have managed to sleep properly the first night!
We stayed in June for Wed and Thurs night. We have been to Dublin loads and knew our way around. The Arlington had a good website offer and seemed one of the only city centre hotels with parking.
We got a room upgrade as the doubles had all gone..family room we could have had a party in it soooo huge.
The second night we watched their entertainment of Irish music and dancing until 11pm and then went up to bed. Well the disco downstairs was so loud we couldnt sleep. After calling down to reception 3 times it ended...at 2:20am!!!
We complained, we were only the floor above so maybe the rest is not as affected. But I think it is only on the weekend as there was no noise on the first night. I will stay again, but only mon-wed!!
Breakfast ...
