Last year I was 30. My birthday is the day after St. Patrick's day. I thought what better place to celebrate than Dublin, being as I am half Irish. My wife and I, along with four friends took a four day break to celebrate and to take in the Festival. We arrived on the 15th and had a nice relaxing drink on our first night. Over the next couple of days we took in the seperate events of the festival including the parade.
Then on the 18th my wife took me to the Jameson Distillary. Had two samples of the 'spirit of life'. Afterwards we took a walk back into the city. Now the distance between the distillary and the ARLINGTON is about half a mile, if not more. I suffer from MS and a walk of that distance is a problem and by the time we reached the Liffey I had become very steady on my feet and we looked for a comfortable place to sit and to take in the atmosphere of the festival.
The Arlington offered both of these, and whilst my friends took a seat, I went took the disabled bathroom. On leaving and whilst attempting to join my friends in the bar, I wasx stopped by the doorman. He informed me that I had to leave. Even after my wife and I had explained the reason for my staggering and my friends had displayed and confirmed that nobody was drunk, we were forced to leave. Severely dampening our spirits.
It did not stop there. On our return to England we wrote a letter to the Dublin Tourist Board. They forwarded our letter onto the Manager of the Arlington, and to cut a long story short, the reply was basically 'We don't care'.
Of the whole trip, which was a brilliant experience, it was this incident that was only bad point.
