A few years ago my mother-in-law bought a plot of land in the south of France with the intention of building a house to live in. That was the summer of 1998. That Christmas, my husband and I went to visit and we crammed as many wonderful places into our week holiday as possible. One place in particular was fascinating. This place was le city de l’espace, Toulouse. (Space City for anyone not up on the French lingo!) It was a relatively new attraction when we visited – less than a year since first opening. It was a huge place with outdoor and indoor attractions.
As it was the middle of winter (and even the south of France has a winter!) we decided to get the outdoor bit over and done with first as it was very cold and windy although the sky was clear and blue and the sun was shining. There was plenty to see and do ...

The crown Plaza hotel in the centre of the old town of Toulouse is a great place for a romantic weekend break. BMI fly in to Toulouse from Manchester so two hours after boarding the plane we had just a twenty minute (20 Euro) taxi drive from Toulouse Blagnac airport to get to the hotel. I booked using the www.ichotelsgroup.com website which is a very easy way of finding the best hotel anywhere in the world within the group (Holiday Inn, Intercontinental and Crowne Plaza). So I had read that the location for this hotel was on Place Capitole in the centre of the old town of Toulouse. What a result. We didn't hire a car because we just wanted to stay in the city centre and do the café / museum / cathedral / restaurant chill out weekend and from this hotel just a short walk to all the above was possible. All though i only had my saint bernard for 2 years it was the best 2 years of my life. we rescued our saint bernard from someone who had brought her over to cyprus with a male for breeding and showing and could no longer look after her anymore.. i had a call from a friend who had heard about her from another friend and although weary at first i decided to go and see her. so i got the number and arranged a meeting. we went to see her one hot afternoon in the middle of summer here in cyprus in 2007.
