Advantages: See Paris and suburbs from the top Disadvantages: Well ... you have to pay
...Last sunday I dated a girl that I met on Ciao France. We broke yesterday by the way ... We decided to go to the Eiffel Tower after having a drink at a café. Then, I said to her : "That's cheaper and fun by the stairs." She was not really enthousiastic but we paid the ticket ( 3,3 euros each, 12 euros by elevators ) and begin to go upstair.
The first time I go up the tower I was eleven. I remember that was boring. Sunday, this was my second time in seventeen years.
I have to say that I focused on the girl and not really on the landscape, but I watch some little things from the first floor and second floor.
- L'Arc de Triomphe ( very small )
- Notre Dame ( very very small )
- La Seine
- Le petit et le grand Palais
- La Défense ( Trade Center )
- Montmartre and Le Sacré Coeur
So, it's very cool if you go there for the landscape...

...We just spent 7 nights at the Palais Rhoul boutique hotel in December 2007 and loved it. It is a little gem.
Upon arrival we were greeted with congratulations by the concierge and upgraded to a two tier room with sofas, very large bathroom, upstairs bedroom etc and a bottle of champagne. A fantastic welcome!
The staff that run it are so friendly and helpful...just ask and they oblige....extra pillow, early calls and even earlier breakfast. Perfect location and the concierge was super helpful with restaurant recommendations. They also kept our luggage for us when we wanted to wander on our last day after we checked out.
The rooms was absolutely stunning, antique furniture everywhere, clean with large marble bathrooms. plenty of towels changed daily. free internet acces, etc, etc... (The palais rhoul is a historic moroccan palace...

Advantages: Magnificent building, cheap entry fees, in the middle of a beautiful city Disadvantages: There's none. you have nothing to lose everything to gain.
...Background: The "Palais des Papes" was the symbol of the power of the church in the XIV century.
Its build was started in 1335 and was finished in less than twenty years. The Pope Benoît XII and its successor Clement VI are the main responsible for this amazing building.
It's the most important gothic palace in the world, (15 000 m2 of floor area, the volume of 4 gothic cathedrals). Visitors can admire the private apartments of the Popes and the stunning wall painting from the Italian artist Matteo Giovannetti.
Ok so it's a big building with an impressive History. If architecture or history is your thing, don't hesitate. If like me you're not too bothered by them, it's still worth paying the small entrance fees just to be able to admire the view of the beautiful city of Avignon you get from the top of the roof. In my personal opinion...
