On our trek throhugh Thailand in March 2008 our first point of call was Bangkok. We chose The Arnoma hotel as it was very centrally located by the main shopping district and close to siam square. It was very reasonably priced and i think cost us about £33-00 a night we booked through kuoni so got a lower price with the whole package and i think a night free!
When we entered our room we were over the moon. I had read a couple of reviews on trip advisor which lead us to be dubious about the cleanliness of the hotel. However, the room was adorable with rose petals on the bed and fresh flowers. The bathroom was large, clean and modern and the bed was reasonably firm, just how we like it. There was a large swimming pool with a Bar which served excellent Pina Colados served in coconuts! Yummy.
The eye opener for me were the views from our room which overlooked much of bangkok and arriving at night it was a beautiful twinkling blanket.
The breakfast was extensive with everything to suit every palate and it even had a section for our Asian friends but i settled for pancakes, eggs and bacon and bypassed the fish curry.
The staff were very helpful in arranging taxis for us all over the city and there was always somebody at the door to open it and they even bowed there heads as we passed which made us feel very special ( if only it was like this in britain ). We did see a wheelchair user during our stay and she didnt look very happy at breakfast as the table was far too high for her to eat!
Anybody thinking about going to Bangkok please bear two things in mind:
1) Bangkok is extremely noisy, smelly and energy sapping but if you look plast the main tourist areas there is real beauty to be found. I suggest the Grand Palace Trip as it is mouth dropping.
2) If you do decide to go, the Arnoma is a top place to stay.
