Advantages: Another fun fantasy story Disadvantages: Not as good as previous books in the series
I have already reviewed an Artemis Fowl book, Artemis Fowl and The Lost Colony. I have tried twice to start this review in a different way to the last one, but seem to be failing miserably! Therefore if you have read that review and notice some bits are very similar I apologise. In my defence all I can say is that the background information is still the same!!
Oh, and if you haven't read the previous books but intend to then read them before you read this! Reviewing the sixth book in a series means that without a few spoilers there is very little to say!

Well . . . it's different! And it's a lot of fun.
We are "at the dawn of the twenty-first century" in North Dublin, where we meet Master Artemis Fowl. He is descended from a long line of legendary lawbreakers and is a criminal mastermind himself. He is a kidnapper, a conniver, a computer genius . . . he loves his mother, oh and he's only 12-years-old.
His father is missing, his mother is temporarily out of her mind with grief. That leaves Artemis out of school and free to skedaddle about the globe with his trusty manservant, Butler, on a spree to refill the family coffers with fairy gold, thereby restoring the Fowl family fortune to its billionaire status, a status that was plunged into jeopardy by his father's bad investments and involvement with the Russian Mafia just before his ship was blown to bits along with Butler's uncle ...

SUNSHINE MAKES EVERYTHING LOOK GOOD:
We made our way up to the pool area and were pleasantly surprised by a couple of big pools, lots of sun loungers and umbrellas, a couple of quiet bars and a restaurant. It all looked quiet, sunny and inviting. We sat down and enjoyed an iced tea and toasted sandwiches. We had been up since 2am and I had only had a cup of coffee and water so I was quite hungry by now. The waiter was lovely and the food was fine. We were getting quite positive vibes and when we went back to reception they said our apartment was ready we were almost on a high.
