Hotel is a Grade II listed Victorian property dating back to 1759, that has been recently refurbished. It combines traditional comforts with the facilities of a modern hotel, with a warm welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, good freshly prepared home cooked food, fine Fullers real ales and a good selection of wines. The Swan has become the meeting place in the town for locals and visitors alike.
of Pebble Hotels, The White Swan has strived to create a contemporary edge to this traditional property with a blend of oak beams, open fires, bold fabrics and striking artwork.The beautiful bar and restaurant with its mix of rich and tranquil colours is a delightful space to enjoy our new menus and specials over a chilled glass of wine. We have created a new relaxing lounge area where diners and residential guests alike can unwind after a long day.We are delighted with our new look bedrooms! The light colour scheme in the rooms picks out the little extra touches such as the bright scatter cushions on the plush bed and the vibrate curtains that frame the landscape views. The bedrooms have clean lines with a modern feel, and all personal amenities, 24 hour room service, internet connection and tea and coffee making facilities. Be it for business or pleasure all in all they give our guests a beautiful space to unwind.And there?s more...The White Swan has three function rooms. The largest, the Sussex Suite, provides not only a great meeting room for business users but also an ideal space for dinner dances and weddings.We are open early in the morning so why not drop in for a chat with friends or a breakfast meeting over a Costa coffee and sticky danish? Business guests can also benefit from the free WiFi access in all of our public areas.The hotel is situated 5 minutes outside of Arundel and is perfectly located for easy travel to Chichester, Fontwell and Goodwood. We very much hope that you will visit us soon to experience all of this for yourself!
Advantages: Very good value for money for a family with children Disadvantages: With no car, one needs to keep in mind the lack of buses on a Sunday!
...At the start of the school summer holidays, I researched late 1-night breaks in the countryside for my family, and quickly discovered hotel stays for families when late-booked could be horrendously expensive. Eventually, I conceded that the cheapest available booking I could find for us was a Travelodge hotel near Arundel.
As a non-car driver/owner, and with a couple of family members travelling with me, I was rather nervous about how we would manage to get to a car-owner's hotel, presumably near a motorway. However, it worked really well, and the weather kept reasonably fair, only raining a few minutes from time to time.
Our booking was at Travellodge Arundel Fontwell, and was indeed in the village of Fontwell, more or less midway between Arundel and Burpham, both of which had railway stations working the Sunday we returned home...

Advantages: Historical town with many attractions nestling in the midst of the South Downs. Disadvantages: Over run with tourists in the summer. Half the major attractions shut in winter.
...old printers trays (lots of tiny sectioned off areas) for a song a couple of years ago. Polished up, it has proved a lovely wall hanging to pop all those little ornaments and bits and bobs in (though it is a nightmare to dust!). Similarly, these shops are a collectors heaven; be it Rupert Bear annuals, cigarette cards, antique jewellery or lace table clothes - you're likely to find them in Arundel.
~~~ The River Arun ~~~
The River Arun runs right along the bottom of the town. It can look very muddy, brown and angry on occasion. However, during the spring and the summer, it does often look delightful with a good variety of swans and ducks to see. However, one should be aware that the River Arun is not for swimming in, as there are some very strong and dangerous currents in it. Care must be taken if you decide to hire one...
Advantages: Close to City Centre and overlooks River Cam Disadvantages: Rooms need the same treatment the communal areas have had.
...Arundel House Hotel is on Chesterton Road, directly overlooking the River Cam and only a 5 minute walk from Cambridge City Centre. It has been developed from a row of terraced houses and whilst this doesn't take away from it as a whole it does affect the setting out of the interior of the hotel - mainly corridors, rooms and bathrooms.
I live in Cambridge and had never stayed here before but a friend booked a room for a night away as an anniversary present for my husband and I.
The hotel is very clean and stylish but the rooms do not match the quality of the rest of the hotel. The restaurant, bar and conservatory areas are clean, smart, reasonably stylish (depending on your taste!) and comfortable but the room failed to live up to my expectation for a hotel in a prime location with communal areas to such high standards...
We have just returned from a two-night stay at the (correctly-named) Avisford Park Hilton near Arundel on the south coast of England. Described by Hilton themselves as an hotel where “You can live like a Baronet. After all, it was once the home of... more
Its hard to think what the thinking was behind this concert. It could well be as Nusrat often said he changes his music to suit the audiance. On this occasion it could well have been a step to far. Nusrats voice shines as... more
