If your the type of person who enjoys eating in a cafe with food debris all over the floor such as squashed chips, and having to clear your own table and dump it sky high onto another table then Asda Cafe, Cherry Tree Road is the place for you.
If ever the word "pits" was designed for an eating establishment...i know the very one.Last week, my wife and myself were running late on our one day off together. We had been trying to find a bedroom carpet and it took longer than expected. We always have lunch together on our day off and as we were looking at carpets next door to Asda, and we had junior to pick up from school at 15.15, we thought we would try the Asda Cafe as we were limited for time and choice and we thought it may have changed since the last time we were in.
WRONG...STILL ITS GOOD OLD SELF.It was an absolute cazi...every table had debris on it, every foot of the floor had food on. The drinks machine looked as though it was comming up for its anual clean, and some of the staff were celebrating as some of the food looked as though it was on its 1st birthday.
We ended up getting a sandwich from the self serve and sitting in the car in the car park which was so much better than sitting in the Asda Cafe.I went to the service desk and asked if they could let a senior manager know the state the cafe was in, and the girl looked as though i was talking chinese. Then a fattish older woman came over in a broad Yorkshire accent and said "Whats up Luv"?
I explainesd about the state of the tables and she replied "well why dont you an me get ourselves a cloth"
On the other hand i dont supose the kids would mind being in there, and to be honest parents are as much to blame as the staff. Its like an increasing pass time in lots of cheap in-store cafes. Lets sit junior in a high chair and watch him squelch the food all over the table and tray and floor and then well walk away and leave it for someone to slip in and tidy, because that is exactly what we do at home...isnt it?
I have three kids and take them everywhere but do like them to show some respect for the surroundings, but hey...no need to at Asda.So on the whole, dirty floors, Dirty tables, Dirty drinks machine, Poor dried up food, poor staff and poor senior management for allowing the good name of Asda to be tarnished by not doing a job of which they get paid to do.
