Advantages: Prime location, bargin price Disadvantages: Cheap fixture and fittings
...Needed somewhere on short notice for a wedding in the Ashbourne region and this hotle fitted the bill perfectly. It is ideally situated on the main street, which makes finding it easy. Checked in quite late, but still found the staff to be pleasent. Booked a double room plus breakfast for two for only 80 euros. The rooms where very spacious and included a king size bed and the usual hotel extras. Fixture and fittings where perhaps a little on the cheap side, and the lack of corridor lighting made finding your room a bit of an adventure! The breakfast was served in a nicely decorated room the following morning - good selection of hot and cold foods - fresh juices would have been nice though.
Overall, a pleasent stay in a nice hotel - and a bargin too....

Advantages: Ease of use, good offers Disadvantages: Inconsistent
...The Hanover International Hotel chain only have hotels in the UK (well actually having checked the locations it is only England and Wales).
They have 14 Hotels in Skipton, Huddersfield, Scunthorpe, Ashbourne, Hinckley, Daventry, Dunstable, Harpenden, Cardiff Bay, Bromsgrove, Reading, Basingstoke, Chewton(Bristol) and Eynsham (Oxford). The hotels are all 3 or 4 stars and 'most' of the ones I have visited are very good.
All have good facilities such as pools, saunus, gyms, and most offer good business facilities as well.
The standards of hotel and service vary quite a lot across the hotel chain so it pays to check out each hotel prior to any visit.
For example, the Hinckley hotel is a very large modern and impersonal hotel. The staff are reasonable, the restaurant is passable and the facilities are excellent. Compare...

Advantages: Plenty to do, good pub on site, friendly staff Disadvantages: Relatively small pitches
...Callow Top is situated about a mile from the pleasant town of Ashbourne and away from all roads, so there is no traffic noise. It is a large very busy site with lots of facilities, including a heated outdoor swimming pool and a pub which does excellent value meals. There is a large outdoor play area and a large hall mainly for the children and teenagers.
The piches are relatively small so you have to be fond of many close neighbours. A new ablutions block has been built and this has relieved the pressure on the old one.
The Tissington trail, for walking and cycling, is adjacent, and footpaths surround the site. Dovedale is about 5 miles away.
The reception staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Overall, one of the best sites in the area, you need to book early for peak periods....
