Advantages: cheap, clean, friendly staff Disadvantages: quite a walk from town centre
...Etap Hotels are another budget hotel chain created by Accor, the creators of hotel giants Ibis. This 250 room complex is situtaed in the centre of Birmingham and all rooms cost £35, whether its a weekday or the weekend. But for this price, don't expect luxury acommodation, as luxury is probably the worst word to describe this hotel.
The rooms are clean and modern and sleep up to 3 people. In most cases, this is either a double or twin beds with a single bunk on top - not very glamourous but good for the money. You do get a television (complete with an array of English and European channels), but I can't guarantee that you'll get coffee and tea making facilities, as some rooms seem to be missing these. There is also no hairdryer or anything like that, but you can get one if pay a £10 deposit at reception - you will get this returned...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Noisy with rooms of a poor standard
...Victorian City Centre Hotel close to Snow Hill Station in need of modernisation, not very convenient if travelling by car as no hotel Car Parking available.
Nearest multi-storey by Snow Hill Station is considered unsafe for overnight parking. Receptionist advised that if car was left in this car park then ‘radio would be gone in the morning’. Suggested we parked car in secure car park whichwas five minutes walk from hotel.
Given noisy cold room with windows that would not shut, complained to duty manager and given executive room as alternative that was equally bad.
Bistro Restaurant: Reasonable meal but service slow.
Breakfast: Buffet very poor, staff exceptional unfriendly.
Summary:
Avoid, Expensive, not up to modern standards, most rooms noisy as face onto roads....

Advantages: No Disadvantages: Don't trust the receptionist
...I told the receptionist to cancel my future booking after a week staying in the hotel. They still charged my credit card after I checked out. Be careful and you need black and white documents to prove that you have cancelled the booking. What a nightmare in staying there....You have to carry your big lugguage to the stairs (NO lifts). And its not cheap either. Just can't recommend you to take this one. The seniors of the hotel would not believe any complaints to the staff.
just a waste of time for complaining services, etc. If you are taking this hotel since it is close to the university, I don't think it is that close to it. Also, there will not be any 24 hours front desk service for you so it may be the reason why they kept saying that I haven't cancelled the booking....
