Ask is fairly up market, however it seems to cater for a large amount of the market it is classy yet not to pricey!! It opened in Colchester mid summer, it is a chain and I think there are a few about. I only recently paid it a visit for a friend’s birthday. It had never really appealed to me, and I wasn’t to impressed really. Loads of people had been telling me how great it was, and I don’t agree!
-The Atmosphere
Nice ... ...that I quite like but it was played over and over again!! So it got annoying. The sound wasn’t up to loud so you could still have a conversation. There was an Italian aroma that you would expect. The decor was nice and plain and it was very light if you know what I mean!! The staff were friendly, but all foreign, not meaning to be racist I don’t have a problem with that but they didn’t speak brilliant English, so it wasn’t great service really. The ... more

-The Atmosphere
Nice and fairly friendly, the music being played was Kylie’s album that I quite like but it was played over and over again!! So it got annoying. The table were quite close together and it was hard for the staff to move around.
-Who is it for?
It suits any of occasion a romantic meal, a girlie night out for a gossip a family or just a group of friends!
-Dress code
There isn’t one. But some people dress up (like me) and others wear jeans and trainers, however you dress you won’t look out of place.
-Booking
I recommend you book a week or a few days in advance because it gets quite busy around lunch and dinnertime.
-The Menu and the Meal
The menu itself was set out very similar to Pizza Express. For those of you that don’t know how that it, its very plain, white with blue writing. It is one sheet of plastic with food on the front and drinks on the back. The starters all sounded nice ranging form salad to garlic bread to prawns. I had garlic bread with cheese. It was a small slice cost £2.95 a bit pricey but it tasted great. Not a great selection for the main meals Pasta or Pizza!! I’m a huge fan of both, but I chose pizza a big mistake. The base was very doughy, and the topping (margarita) didn’t taste too good either, I am a big eater (as some people will know) and I couldn’t finish it, I felt quite ill.
-The Best bit
The toilets!! Wow!! The mirrors are lovely and the sinks are huge. There are two toilets very clean. The only problem was walking up to them in my stilettos!!
I did like Ask; I think I just picked the wrong meal!! Next time it will be Pasta I think!!
Advantages: cheap but upmarket Disadvantages: slightly cramped
...been to the branch of Ask in Worcester, but I guess that they are all pretty much the same.
This place has a very smart and upmarket appearance, with reasonable priced food. The food, mainly pizzas and pasta dishes (it is an italian restaurant!) is of a very high quality. They usually have a few specials on as well as the ordinary menu (which does not have a huge range). This restaurant would suit any kind of occasion - a romantic meal for 2, a ... ...out.
The kitchen is open, so the pizza ovens can be seen. The decor is very modern, shiny and always immaculatly clean.
The only thing I didn't like was how closely packed the tables were. You could hear everyone else's conversation very clearly, but for a cheap night out I would definitely go here. You can have a meal at the same price as any other pizza place but in much better surroundings! ...

Advantages: Great tasting food at a resonable price Disadvantages: Can't think of any
I have been to ASK on several occasions and have been really impressed with the food and service quality. The restaurant is very clean, and the staff and friendly. However I do find the restaurant very noisy, even when there aren’t many people there.
ASK serves a wide variety of Italian foods and wines such as pizzas, pastas, risottos and Al forno. The quality of the food is very high, and tastes excellent every time. The prices are reasonable.
... ...you’re having, for example a Margherita pizza cost £5.95. This isn’t a small one, but a proper large one. Then Spaghetti Carbonara costs £7.95. As you see I believe the costs of this food is reasonable.
All the times I have been to the restaurant it has been clean and well layed out. On arrival we have been given our seats quickly and then given time to choose our meals.
The quality of service is very high. For example on time our desserts were ...

Advantages: Huge menu. Trendy, yet comfortable décor. Suitable for every kind of occasion. Disadvantages: Main course portions rather miserly and over-priced for what you get on your plate.
Having spotted a "two main courses for the price of one" voucher on Money Saving Expert, dining at Ask was a no-brainer when we planned to celebrate my birthday recently. I'd never before dined at any Ask outlet, so I was very keen to give them a whirl, and the discount voucher certainly helped tip the balance.
For those of you unfamiliar with the group, Ask are a chain of Italian restaurants. Their emphasis is on informal dining in contemporary, yet trendy looking surroundings. The group has 115 different city centre outlets dotted throughout the UK, a large percentage of which are located in listed buildings or places of local interest. For example, the restaurant in Chichester (where we dined) is located in a large white Georgian looking building. Ask restaurants tend to be located in heart of city centres, thus making them ...

Advantages: Food was fresh Disadvantages: Staff and restaurant were rather cool
Sat in a relatively innocuous little spot on Bristol?s trendy Park Street, Ask could easily be walked past without a second glance. There is nothing particularly eye-catching about the venue, and with an entrance that looks like its going to lead into someone?s flat, I wouldn?t be surprised to find that few people have ever noticed its existence. Nonetheless, on a cold January evening earlier this year, that?s exactly where I found myself with a couple of friends and a few hours to kill.
AMBIENCE
Ask occupies a single (albeit split-level) floor or accommodation in a traditional, cosy setting. The lighting is very subtle and romantic, and most of the tables would only comfortably seat two people - a good choice therefore for a Valentine?s meal. The dining areas are actually quite small, but the tables aren?t too cramped, and when ...

Advantages: VERY reasonable Disadvantages: none worth mentioning
On Sunday, I went with my new fella (yes really) to the cinema and then we drove to Canterbury for a meal. Not having clue where we wanted to go we wandered the high street (well, I tottered, with heels getting stuck in the cobbles) until we came across ASK.
The first ASK restaurant was opened in 1993 in Belsize Park, London. The owners opened the first restaurant together because they felt there was a gap in the market for quality pizza and pasta, and I guess they were right- since then over 180 restaurants have been opened across the UK (Pizza Express and Zizzi’s are part of the same group).
This particular branch is next to a canal and alongside Little Italy restaurant (don’t go there, my friend found a pebble in her food and when she complained they insisted she had put it there and still forced her to pay!). It ...
