Aston Hall, Sheffield

I first went to Aston Hall for a friend's wedding reception a few years ago. The reception was lovely - great food, beautiful surroundings - but I kind of pigeon-holed the place into the "posh hotel, nice for an event" category. Of course, this is exactly what Aston Hall is (check it out if you're getting married and are close to J31 of the M1), but there's much more to it than that... Unfortunatly i live in the worksop area and dining out at anything other than a pub is extremly difficult so Aston Hall is a breath of fresh air being easily accessible only 15mins away. On arriving at Aston Hall you will be pleasantly suprised by the beauty of the building espesially if you are lucky enough to see it with a light covering of snow on. I stayed on a Sunday and Monday night. On the Sunday, it was IMPOSSIBLE to sleep because of loud music coming from below and people milling around (drinking) outside my window. The music continued til well past midnight. When I called the desk to complain, they offered to move me to 'another building' - at 11pm at night (after I had spent a VERY long day travelling) and had already retired to bed!
