Aston Waikiki Joy Hotel, Honolulu

Advantages: Lots to see
Disadvantages: be careful about the time of day you go to visit.

...I visited Honolulu Zoo in the summer whilst on Honeymoon in Waikiki. The Zoo is situated at the far end of Waikiki on the way towards Diamond Head. We happened across the zoo after finding adverts in one of the many brochures and fliers you can pick up from the hotels. The Zoo is within easy walking distance of Waikiki hotels and is worth the visit if you have nothing better planned. Unfortunately we chose to go around midday on our first day - jet lag hadn't quite hit us yet so we were wide awake and eager to explore Waikiki. It was a scorching hot day and the animals obviously had better things to do than stare at countless faces visiting them in the zoo. Safe to say they were tucked up in the shade having a nap. Advantages: Location, price

...I stayed at this hotel during my third trip to Hawaii in 2006. The big plus point to this hotel is the location combined with the value. The hotel is just a very short walk from Waikiki Beach, the shops, restaurants & the beachfront hotels. It has a central location which takes you right into the heart of Waikiki but being on Kuhio Avenue it has great access to The Bus for anyone wanting to explore the island. The hotel also has a recommended Thai restaurant (Keo's) on the ground floor which also does a breakfast menu. There are other options nearby. The hotel itself does not have a real breakfast area. The hotel facilities are good for people using it as base. It has an Outrigger Activities centre to help organise events, a small shop and helpful hotel staff. ...Es un hotel con una amabilidad infinita. Desde la recepcion hasta los botones. Excepcional situacion y vistas desde las terrazas (a un lado el mar, al otro las montañas de selva tropical). Practicamente en primera linea de playa, en el paseo maritimo, en la zona mas "chic". Quiza lo mas dificil es encontrar un sitio para desayunar (el buffet no lo probamos porque es bastante caro, al igual que la comida y la cena), pero para ir de compras esta muy bien: cerca el mercado de honolulu, con de todo lo que quieras comprar. Cerca tambien del zoo, de la mejor zona de playa de waikiki y de buenos restaurantes (recomiendo el cheesecake factory para cenar). Me agrado especialmente lo que ellos llaman la hospitality room: una habitacion que te dejan una hora si has facturado a las 12 de la mañana pero no sale tu avion hasta por la tarde.... Read review
