Advantages: Beautiful hotel and great value Disadvantages: Not too near the city centre
which was brilliant value and included continental breakfast for two people as well. These rooms can be as much as 300 Euros per night at other times of the year. (Here you pay for the room and not the number of people in it, ie same price for 2 adults, as for 2 adults and 2 children).
If you shop around on the Marriott website and are flexible as to travel dates you can pick up some brilliant deals!
Location, location, location:
The location of this hotel is, I think, it's main problem in that it is not really very centrally located in the heart of Brussels. As I found out whilst there, the Marriott BrusselsHotel is much more centrally located (I will probably stay there if I go again!)
To get into the centre of the city it really was a bus ride or very long walk (the reception advised us that it was about a 3km walk which ...
Advantages: Decent hotel, great price on Expedia Disadvantages: Will you be able to get the same deal?
INTRODUCTION
Brussels is a handy place to meet if you're in the South Netherlands and your girlfriend is in London. Thanks to Eurostar and Dutch rails, we can both make it there in a couple of hours. My girlfriend managed to get a great deal on a hotel thanks to Expedia, and so here is a review of that hotel, which in my opinion is well worthy of consideration. Seems like the name has slighly changed since this was added to Ciao in 2006, to Eurostars Sablon. I checked the address and I've got the right place!
THE LOCATION
Hotel Eurostars Sablon is located opposite the Museum of Ancient and Modern Art in the city centre, 500 metres from the Royal Palace. This makes it a very handy location for the tourist areas. We found it a five minute walk to the Central train station, and a ten minute walk to the main tourist area ...
Advantages: Convenient location near the city centre, very good breakfast Disadvantages: Not very nice rooms with no view, the bathrooms are not very nice
Well I don't know whether I should recommend this hotel or not.... Basically, if like us, you are given the option of staying in this hotel as part of a special deal, then go for it; but if you have to pay full price for the room, then just stay away from it! We ended up in this hotel as part of a wonderful 2 for 1 package in February which included eurostar travel from London to Brussels and one night at the hotel - all for just 120 pounds for the two of us!! So having paid that little, I find this hotel exceeded my expectations.
The hotel receptionist was ok but not incredibly friendly and did not smile very much. The staff in general were helpful but not overly friendly.
To get to our room in the top floor, we had to use a lift that was not very nice, actually it reminded me of hospital lifts and then ...
