A year ago, the Asus A7N8X series consisted of some of the best selling motherboards on the market, and it's not hard to see why. At the time, the nVidia nForce 2 chipset was taking the PC market by storm and was making it easier than ever before to build your own computer. nForce 2 based motherboards included everything - well, almost everything. Manufacturer's product description
The ASUS A7N8X-X Series has come out with another winner to offer incredible value. The A7N8X-X, using the nForce2 400 chipset, is ready for the Athlon XP processor on 400Mhz FSB. Other industry-leading features include AGP 8x graphics interface, DDR400 memory, onboard 6-channel audio and a whole lot more. A7N8X-X supports 400 MHz FSB Athlon XP which provides exceptional performance for 3D gaming, digital media, and office productivity. AGP8X (AGP 3.0) is the next generation VGA interface specification that enables enhanced graphics performance with high bandwidth speeds up to 2.12GB/s and twice as fast as AGP4X. ASUS C.O.P. (CPU Overheating Protection) is a hardware protection circuit that automatically shuts down the system power before temperatures go high enough to permanently damage your CPU. The A7N8X uses an onboard Realtek ALC650 audio CODEC that lets you enjoy high-quality 6-channel audio without having to buy advanced sound cards. USB 2.0 is the latest connectivity standard for next generation components and peripherals. Backward compatible with current USB 1.1 peripherals, USB 2.0 delivers transfer speeds up to 40 times faster at 480MB/s, for easy connectivity and ultra-fast data transfers. Constant, high-pitched noise generated from heatsink fans is a thing of the past thanks to ASUS Q-Fan. The ASUS A7N8X with Q-Fan technology intelligently adjusts fan speeds according to system loading to ensure quiet, cool and efficient operation.
