Advantages: Location, comfort & views. Disadvantages: Businesslike and few English speaking staff.
.
Standard rooms at the Malaga Palacio can be booked from £84 per night (Rooms.net) through to £200 plus and if you get a good deal I'd recommend this hotel for a great location. On the downside, the rude staff and business atmosphere are a little trying, but a room with a view more than makes up for this.
It's worth bearing in mind that access may be an issue as the lifts are narrow and the entrance and reception desk are up stairs with no alternative route. You won't get a great deal of swimming done in the paddling size pool, but for a good night's sleep this is comfy, quiet and central. Like Malaga itself, this hotel is no disappointment.
More boardroom than boutique, but good value for money. ...
I went to malaga in 2007, I wasn't impressed at all, personally I think this may stem from the hotel and if you haven't got a good place to stay, it usually would hinder the holiday experience.
Although, saying this there were a few good aspects of the holiday, the beach was lovely, plenty of sunloungers with comfortable cushions which we had to pay a small fee for for the whole day. The route to the beach wasnt very good there were steep hills and a lot of steps which could be a problem for a lot of people - there is a lift though.
Another good point was the shops, they were open very late and when i was there, there were lots of sales on in good shops, Malaga has good shops like zara.
A bad point in my opinion was the entertainment, we went at peak season and there wasnt a lot to do, and not much going on for families.
The eating ...

Advantages: Shops etc open late, Beautiful Beach, Amazing Cathedral. Disadvantages: Noisy, dirty, has Bull Ring.
Malaga centre we sat and had a coffee in the Bus depo cafe, and looked over a list of Hotels and map the lady from the Information Desk at the Bus station had given us.(Much more helpful than the airport!) We quickly chose one within our budget, walked literally around the corner from where we were, and checked in. The good thing about going this time of year, is that even if you don't have accomadation booked, you will deffinately be able to get what you want once there.
Our Hotel was only supposed to be 1 Star, but we thought it was great! Not the Grande Vere or anything, but nice and clean with friendly staff.(None of which spoke English though) It also had a En suite with shower and bum-wash etc.
Bags dumped, we were ready to explore. We were in the New part of Malaga, which had the Bus station, an Underground station, Cinema ...
