...Embassy Suites On a recent visit to California, I was booked into this hotel because it was close to places I had to visit for work. The hotel itself is only a short drive from the airport (it took about half an hour in a hire car, and not knowing where I was going) and is located in La Jolla which is apparently quite an affluent area, featuring banks and houses and hotels as well as restaurants and a rather nice shopping mall. It's easy to drive into the hotel and should you ask for it there is valet parking in the high rise car park, but I just parked round the back of the hotel. Once inside the hotel, check in was quick and efficient and I was immediately impressed with the well set out entrance lobby featuring some nice little touches such as plentiful flowers. ...~~Platja de la Pineda~~ Platja de la Pineda is a very small town located on the outskirts of Salou. It has a small amount of shops and stalls dotted around with a vast amount of golden sandy beach and a water park. It's location is great being in a family friendly area that is close to Tarragona and Salou that are bigger resorts. Big family fun at Fortaventura can be had at about a 15-20 minute bus ride away and Barcelona is about 45 minutes to an hour away. The airport that you normally fly into is Reus which is about a 20 minute coach journey away and while the airport is small it's quick to get through and very helpful e.g. they sort out car hire, transfers and even accommodation if required. ~~Estival Park~~ The hotel is large ranging over 3 smaller hotels each having their own outdoor pools. ...Accessible and Clean, on a Budget My girlfriend and I booked through hotwire.com and had a lovely experience. We stayed for 4 days and had an extremely pleasant experience. The website had us booked for a smoking room but we wanted a non-smoking and the manager made sure we were accomodated as soon as we requested a change. He had the staff clean the room to ready it for us even though I never would have guessed it was dirty in the first place. One of the CLEANEST hotels I have ever stayed in. The manager and other staff gave us advice on anything we wanted (restaurants, attractions, even beaches) without ever seeming annoyed. The hotel is extremely close to every thing in Naples and is a short drive from the airport in Ft. Myers.
