Advantages: the weather, the tavernas, the people, the new metro system Disadvantages: the traffic, the pollution
...Athens was the trip of a lifetime!
Since I first heard about ancient Greece at school, that going to athens became a dream trip! Fortunately life allowed me to fullfill this desire of going through the past that fascinated me so much.
Athens is a mixture of chaos and creativity. In a crowded and polluted city, one gets amazed with the incredibly beuty that the Acropolis offers, as a guardian of this metropolis, looking at us from far high in the sky!
The Greek people, used to welcome foreigners into their country, welcome you with an incredible open heart, making you feel right at home. Although sometimes they seem rude, underneath they're this warm and kind people, eager to please those that visit them.
Athens is a great place for everybody!...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Everything you could think of.
...Athens Airport – there are better ways to go
If you like the idea of sitting in an airport resembling a social security office for a couple of hours, clouded in smoke, the only coffee available being from thin paper cups, then Athens airport is definitely for you. Another nice touch is the lack of anything to do or see, so contemplation of the self is an art to be cultivated here. Quite apart from that, there is the thrill of the unknown, resulting from the fact that Athens has about the worst security set-up in the world for outgoing passengers. You can try practising your Greek, since the signs at this supposedly international airport are all in this language (yes, I know Heathrow uses only English). The amazing thing is that Athens has been famous as the world’s worst airport for years, and yet it never gets any better....

Advantages: Good bus service to downtown Disadvantages: Smokey, dirty, run-down, confused with other Athens airport
...The Athens airport is absolutely horrific, however if you're going to Athens it is difficult to avoid. Let me set the scene: a huge, cavernous building full of smoke and smokers (I am a smoker myself, and still found it unbearably smokey). It is also quite dirty and run-down. And buy your souvenirs and gifts far away from the airport -- they're outrageously expensive!
As well, there seem to be two airports in Athens: make very sure you specify exactly which one to any taxi drivers, or they will take you to the more accessible, but generally useless, other one (this happened to me), from which you will then have to take a bus to get to the international airport.
One good thing is that there is excellent bus service from the Athens airport to downtown Athens -- albeit unbelievably crowded....
