"If you can't find it here, it won't be anywhere else!"(Said with American accent) Atlanta is a mecca for shopaholics. There are shopping malls all over the place. One of the biggest malls, Lenox Square Mall, has about 300 shops under one roof. Most worldwide famous brands are represented here. I found the prices in Atlanta generally cheaper than the UK. A chart CD album, for example, was only $12.99. That is another evidence that Britain really is rip-off Britain. Atlanta also has one of the most vibrant restaurant scenes in America. With so many fine restaurants featuring novel recipes, you are spoilt for choice. We dined in a huge restaurant called Cheese Factory one evening. I ordered a special American dish consisting fired chicken and pasta with orange sauce. I could not believe my eyes when my meal arrived. The generous portions of food on the big plate (plus the giant glass of ice tea) would be enough to feed a family of three! ...This is America!

Atlanta is the state capital of Georgia. It is famous for the epic 'Gone With The Wind', Martin Luther King Jr., former president Jimmy Carter, Olympics 1996, CNN and Coca-Cola. A local pharmacist developed Coca-Cola originally as a headache remedy some 115 years ago. There is a modern museum 'The World of Coca-Cola' situated near Peachtree Street (Atlanta's high street). Another main attraction is the Stone Mountain. It is the world's largest exposed granite mountain. A sculpture of three giant figures of civil war heroes is carved on the rock face of the mountain. We climbed to the top of the mountain via a large cable car, and had very spectacular views around the mountain.

If you want a taster for American lifestyle, Atlanta of Georgia is the place to go. It is not so touristy, and the locals are quite friendly. Further more, there is no language barrier in America!

hi

Only ever seen the skyline of this city whenever I fly Delta Airlines (Atlanta is their hub) but always to a different destination. Never thought of visiting the city to see what it has to offer. I'm sure it has a lot to offer :-) Joey.
