Directly in front of you is a small sitting area with log fire on the go which gives it a very cosy atmosphere. You can tell straight away that its an old hotel as when you walk over the floorboards the do creak slightly which give it a very old yet welcoming effect. If you have never been before Newquay is a fantastic place which is a great Uk holiday destination, with many gorgeous sandy beaches, which during the summer is full of surfers. It also gets extremely hot down there and is so picturesque, its in a league of its own.
I had never been to Newquay until March of last year, I had heard very good remarks about the place but I do about other places that I have been to and they don't quite add up, however having a long weekend down there, when returning to stoke on trent, I actually considered it could be the perfect place to move to and I have never felt like that before.
We went down on the off chance, long way really for a off chance trip but during March it hadn't hit the season so getting a place to stay we believed shouldn't be such a great problem. I have rather high standards when it comes to accommodation and I won't just stay anywhere. Mr & Mrs Bedbug B&B, for me is out of the question, call me a snob but I would rather sleep in the car..lol.
Upon arriving in the centre of Newquay you can see a huge hotel on the cliffs, which to me looked like a perfect hotel to stay in, driving up the bank to the hotel, we noticed that there was a wedding party there, so I wasn't counting my chickens however we parked up in the carpark, went inside and luckily they had a double room available at a cost of £45 per night per person including breakfast. Thats it we will take it.

As you walk into the reception, it is a rather large area, with reception desk in front of your to the left as you go through the doors. Directly in front of you is a small sitting area with log fire on the go which gives it a very cosy atmosphere. You can tell straight away that its an old hotel as when you walk over the floorboards the do creak slightly which give it a very old yet welcoming effect. The reception staff are very helpful, checking you in the very quickly, the advise you of where everything is within the hotel and general information, offer you papers and breakfast calls in the morning and also provide with comlimentary towels should you wish to go swimming or take a soak in the hot tub or jacuzzi.
-Room-
As we went on the off chance we were lucky to get a room in this fine establishment, so the room that we did end up with wasn't probably what I would have wanted if we had prebooked, however it had ample facilities within it for the couple of days that we were there.
The room itself was pretty small, it just managed to fit a dressing table, double bed and a table and two chairs. The room was extrememly clean and had a view overlooking one of the hotels pools and also the coast which was fantastic. The bathroom was of normal size what you would expect of a room of this size and had a bath, shower, toilet and sink. Everything you need really and again was extrememly clean with fresh towels that were very soft and crisp. The hotel also gives you complimentary soap, shampoo, shower gel and the likes, normally what you would see within a hotel of its stature.
-Pool-
The hotel has several pools, some in which are part of the poolside suites that the hotel has to offer. The main pool has its own changing rooms which is great and give you a bit of privacy to get changed in, instead of walking around the hotel in your swimwear. The pool itself was heated and was just nice for this time of year. As it was out of season, it did not have a lifeguard but surely durng season I would imagine that it would be manned for the duration that it was open. In a smaller seperate room, it has a jacuzzi, enough to fit around 12 people in at one time and is very warm, when getting back into the pool you can tell the difference.
- Bars -
There are several bars within the hotel however due to the hotel having a wedding party in on this day, if i commented on the service, I am sure I would give a biased opinion as they were very busy attending to the wedding guests. The staff, however were very pleasant and kept a calm manner although you could tell that they were extremely busy.
- Breakfast -
Breakfast was available until 10am in the morning. As you walk into the restaurant, you have to wait to be seated by the head waiter. When seated they will offer you the option of tea and coffee and pour this for you. They will also explain what they have available for the day. There are cold options of Cereal, Fruits, Various Breads and Croisants, Continental Cheeses and Meats. Or you can go for the hot full English option, which consists on Bacon, Sausage, Fried Bread, Beans, Tomoatoes, Mushrooms, Scrambled or Fried Eggs, a lot of which they will cook for you as you order instead of it sitting under a hot plate. That way you know its fresh. The breakfast itself was delicious, one of the best I have ever had, and yes I went back for seconds.
Considering it was just a off chance break for the weekend, the hotel was absolutely fantastic, something for you to consider for the summer for a long weekend. The hotel does have its own website, www.atlanticnewquay.co.uk, should you want to check it out.
