We wanted to have a break away just the two of us without our kids and knew we wanted an all inclusive break. After much deliberation we decided to try the Atlantica Golden Beach and were not disappointed. This is a Thomson Gold Hotel and we received Gold service from the minute we booked. Everyone was so friendly. When we arrived into Paphos airport we were quickly shown to our bus and because it is a Gold hotel you are dropped off first. The Manager and staff were there to greet us with drinks and a short information session about where restaurants, bars, facilities were.
We had upgraded our room to a Double Superior and this meant that we were guaranteed a sea view along with a bottle of wine, fruit, bathrobes, slippers, television, cd player and canopy over our large double bed.
There was one large buffet restaurant and one smaller a la carte restaurant and we were given a voucher to use once in the a la carte. Any additional time you went to that restaurant you had to pay. Although the food in the a la carte was delicious, so was the food in the main buffet restaurant so didn't feel the need to go back again. Breakfast consisted of the usual cereal, juice, bacon, eggs, sausage etc but also had delicious freshly made, warm breads and rolls and also had omelettes made to order where you stood while they cooked them for you fresh. Dinner always had lots of variety where they had traditional cypriot dishes along with english (not many chips though). There was always someone cooking fresh fish and meat in different ways for you and there was always someone cooking fresh pasta to order. The desserts were delicious - lots of gateaus and beautiful ice creams.
The area beside the pool was lovely, clean and peaceful. Staff were always coming around to bring you drinks. The beach was small but there was a grassed area right next to it with lots of sunbeds on there.
The 3 Thomson entertainment reps were extremely friendly and worked very hard. They had lots of different things going on each day but they never pressurised you. Every afternoon there was a quiz and there was entertainment on each evening which consisted of guest singers, comedians etc along with the resident duo and of course, the Thomson Reps.
If you are going out during the day, the hotel is not really within walking distance of anything however there is a regular bus service outside the hotel which will take you into Paphos town centre. We weren't really bothered about the location because we had just went for a relaxing week of doing nothing.
We did go on a trip however to Famagusta and got a packed lunch off the hotel which would have fed a small army. The packed lunches are good because you can actually choose what goes in them.
Apart from the entertainment area, there is one additional bar which is used at night. We never had to go up to the bar at all because as soon as the staff seen we were nearly finished our drinks, they came over so we could order some more. The only downside to the all inclusive drinks is that they finish at 0000,
We met some fantastic people there - although it does have to be said that in the winter months the average age of the guests does go up - but they were all wonderful and so were the staff and when we left the manager and staff line up and personally say goodbye to everyone.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to oouples and would definitely go back myself.

The hotel wasabout a twenty minute ride from the airport, which after a long hot journey, was welcome. On arrival, our bags were immediately taken to our rooms. The manager rushed us up into a room upstairs and to our surprise, a welcome party of sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee awaited us.
The hotel is very large, I guess it has over 400 rooms as some were situated outside in separate appartments ... ...all our experience of hotels, this had to be the friendliest. The restaurant was part inside and outside near the swimming pool.
Most of the meals were buffet, help yourself. The food was top notch; no fear of going hungry here.
The rooms were typical travel lodge type with TV, coffee making facilities, private bath and shower, and a small varanda with tables and chairs provided.
The swimming pool was one of the best and safest I have seen.

Advantages: Nice Rooms Disadvantages: Food, little to do
Had our honneymoon here. We decided on the hotel because it was an adults only one, and that it offered an all inclusive package (eat and drink as much as you want), according to the travel agent it was right next to golden sandy beaches. I cant remeber the exact cost of the holiday but it was over £2500.
The hotel is only about 20min drive from the local airport. Upon arrive and chec kour bags were taken to the hotel room. The lobby of the hotel ... ...staff appeared friendly. Since we did not eat the meal of the flight in we headed of to the resturant, however we were told the we could not wear shorts / bathing costum in the resturant. Not knowing this before hand when we packed for the holiday we had no trousers. For the first two days untill we could find a shop too buy trousers we were restriceted to ordering room service at an additional cost. When we eventually did get properly dressed for ...

First impressions great, lovely hotel, luggage taken to our rooms on arrival & a welcoming party consisting of soft drinks & cake (& sales pitch offering a choice of incl. packages).
Disappointed to find the hotel was not child free as advertised in brochure due to Thomsons only having 80% allocation, & that the fridge & coffee making facilities were not included as standard.
Very little to do on an evening other than stay in hotel.
Very small beach, more rock than sand - not for beach lovers.
Hotel waiting staff very attentive & Thomsons entertainment team,Mark & Debbie kept us entertained every day.
Good varied selection of food in restaurant-suits all tastes.(NOTE: men have to wear long trousers for dinner NOT mentioned in brochure) ...
