The staff
Were very pleasant and helpful. The receptionist took a great deal of time to explain how to get to the hotel (we had to drop off our hire car) and even photocopied a bus timetable and map for us.
Would I recommend this hotel?
Yes, only if you need a hotel near the airport. I have Otherwise it is a bit too far from the centre of Bergen if you wish to do a lot of sightseeing. ...
Advantages: A fun and educational place to visit Disadvantages: Perhaps not for younger children, can get crowded
What do you do on a rainy day in a city renowned for bad weather and that is surrounded by water? You go to the aquarium of course! As if you hadn?t seen enough water!
Bergen Aquarium has a reputation of being one of the finest in Europe and while I haven?t been to many, I can see why Bergen?s has this good reputation.
The aquarium is situated about 1.6 Kilometres from the fish market, which in tourist terms is the heart of the city. It stands at the end of the Nordnes peninsular and you can find it quite easily by walking as far as you can before you end up in the fjord. When you fall in you know you have gone too far. I was going to say ?when you get wet? but as it rains virtually all the time in Bergen, this is not helpful. If you don?t want to walk you can take a bus, alternatively you can take a ferry from the fish market ...
Advantages: Essential for scholars, interesting for others Disadvantages: Requires a good background of Augustine
'What I desire for all my works is not merely a kind reader but also a frank critic.'
- Augustine of Hippo
The introduction to this volume begins with this very apt quotation from Augustine. Augustine welcomed criticism ? that kind of reflection and pushing at the boundaries of experience and ideas that would help refine and shape his own theological development. This book is very much in keeping with that desire and tradition.
While it is not yet in the database, the book 'Augustine and His Critics', edited by Robert Dodaro and George Lawless is now available in an affordable paperback edition. This is a very scholarly and interesting work on Augustine of Hippo, one of the major figures of western Christian theology. All theology in Catholic and Protestant development has in some way responded to or reacted to Augustinian ...

Manufacturer's product description
Augustin is now the oldest family-run full-service hotel in Bergen. The hotel, built in 1909 in Jugend style, passed into the hands of the present family ten years later, and is now run by the fourth generation. Its 1999 extension increased the capacity 109 room and a new bar in 400 year-old cellar. The hotel\\\'s new wing, however, brings you back to the modern age. The new rooms have all the modern facilities and comfort, and the interior has been designed by the young Bergen architect Aud Hunskar. Special doors with intarsia work are the first things you see, while both rooms and bathrooms show that the interior architect has concerned herself with both the practical and aesthetic aspects. In 1999 the hotel also won a price for the design of the reception and decor by the entrance.
