Advantages: Fantastic location, brilliant service, immaculate Disadvantages: It is pricey, but then, Rome is generally pricey
...looked at the map and said we had picked a really good location as we were quite close to Vatican City. It was only when we were there on our second day in Rome, having got to grips with the map and finding our way around, that we realised we were actually able to walk to many of the main sights. We were coming out of the Vatican and checking the map to see which way to the Sistine Chapel when I spotted a road name on the map which looked very familiar, and realised that we were a 15 minute walk away from the hotel. Hotel Cicerone, we discovered, is within walking distance of the Vatican, Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps, Castel Sant'Angelo and SanPietro. Even Trevi Fountain and Pantheon could be reached by foot, it was only the Colloseum and Roman Forum that really warranted a journey on the metro and even that took minutes to reach...

Advantages: History, lots of things too see and so, food, amazing museums, Gelato Disadvantages: Too much to see, crowded around major sight, fear of being pickpocketed
...with the tour yet. The last building we were going to visit was St. Peter's basilica (Basilica di SanPietro)…the world's biggest church. The size of the church is just amazing. The church was built on the site of St. Peter's tomb and some claim that his remains are still kept in the church but I doubt it - the body of one of the founding father's of the catholic church so 'freely' accessible?. Tony took us to some of the unique pieces like Pietà the marble statue by Michelangelo from 1499. But it was very tricky to take good pictures due to the crowds, the light and the fact that it is kept behind a glass wall. It was a bit hard to keep up with Tony as my eyes constantly glided towards the huge dome (also by Michelangelo) and the rays of light that came in through the windows created an almost divine effect (holy spirit shining down on us?).
