...experience the wonderful wildlife that Australia has to offer then a trip to Australia Zoo is a great way to do it! I have to say it was one of the highlights of my trip. SS Yongala - Diving the Wreck
Advantages: Huge fish and loads of them, Spectacular Disadvantages: The Price
...History
The SS Yongala (named after the aboriginal word yonggluh – meaning broad water) was a steel passenger and freight ship built in Newcastle (England) in the early 1900’s. Reaching 350 feet (110m) in length and weighing in at 3,664 tonnes she was capable of reaching top speeds of 15.8 knots. Originally commissioned for the Adelaide Steamship Company, and after her launch in 1903 she regularly travelled the busy passenger route linking the gold ... ...to do it.
As the Yongala has become an artificial reef, with soft corals being found on the hull where a current is most common and hard corals being found on what used to be the deck where it is more sheltered. It acts almost like a feeding station within an area of otherwise sandy substrate and we were told to expect to see almost anything – sting rays, eagle rays, turtles, manta rays, bull sharks, Queensland groupers (the biggest one going by ...

Australia's Beautiful Rottnest Island
Advantages: Beautiful 6km Island Tropical Island. No cars, no phones!! Disadvantages: Shops are expensive compared to Mainland Australia.
On our last days of our Big Aussie Trip, my partner and I were offered a few days to spend on the beautiful Island of Rottenest off the main coast of Western Australia. We travelled for one hour on a short ferry crossing from the Fremantle shipping docks and watched as the Island came into view whilst the mainland slipped away from sight, with only the towering buildings of Perth City being seen as a misty shadow in the distance. On our ferry crossing ... ...to get off at the other end - I don’t have "sea legs" as they say) and we was able to take bikes, luggage and food boxes over on the boat to the Island. We were given special tags to place on our luggage, so that when we arrived it was taken to our pre-planned accommodation. This boat trip cost us approximately $50 dollars each return. We also managed to get a discount using backpacker discount cards (you can get these in any backpacker outlets).

Swept Away by "Broome"
Advantages: Miles away from anywhere Disadvantages: Miles away from anywhere
...get to from Perth to Broome but there were going to be a lot of interesting stop off's on the way. The journey itself was amazing. We visited deserts, gorges, fed dolphins, snorkelled with Manta Rays on Ningaloo Reef and drank champagne whilst watching the sunsets. Our tour guide kept referring to Broome like we were on our way to visit the "Emerald City", and at the time it truly felt like we were. When we arrived in Broome I did originally think, ... ...review begins……
BROOME
Broome is situated in The Kimberley region of Western Australia. It was established in the 1880's with its pearl harvesting, and mementoes of the industry are still dotted throughout the town today. The region has a monsoonal climate; a warm dry winter and a hot wet summer. The best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from April to September. I spent approximately 6 weeks in Broome throughout August and September, ...

Beautiful Bondi Beach
Advantages: It's beautiful Disadvantages: It gets ridiculously full in the hotter months.
...running around a totally empty Bondi Beach, with no more than a solitary baffled looking dog-walker wrapped in coat and scarf watching us in the distance. We were, as she tells it, the only three people on Bondi's massive beach that day because no Australian would want to be on Bondi in the middle of the winter.
This year we went back – my mother and step-father inviting me and my husband, my sister and her partner to go with them. My uncle had ... ...One of the reasons that Bondi Beach is so popular with Sydney dwellers is that you can reach it very easily by public transport. It's at the end of a train line and easily accessible from the city centre and the suburbs. We took the train to Bondi Junction and accepted my mother's reassurances that it would be a good idea to walk from the station to the beach, despite it being quite a long way. Her philosophy was that the walk would do us good and ...
