There is a Steve safari shuttle which will take you from the entrance to the other end of the park. We did not use it as the walk was not that long and we could easily walk the distance. Water fountains are located throughout the zoo as well as toilets. There are designated smoking ...

Advantages: wicked / best zoo in the world Disadvantages: Steve died :-(
...are in Australia, go to Australia Zoo it's a fantastic place, the core of Australia! Been Steve Irwin's official zoo, there is a sense that now he has passed away doing what he loved (interacting with nature), that the park has kind of lost its novelty, far, far from it! I went to Australia Zoo last summer and although Steve Irwin had not left us then, he wasn't present at that day, and are day was still immensely enjoyable, interesting and a great ... ...safety and this encapsulates everything Australia is about freedom, a love of nature and peaceful existence.

One of the highlights of the day for me was seeing the elephant keepers walk the elephants all the way through the park. These elephants were the biggest I'd ever seen by a long way and the really amazing thing was they were walking in a straight line with their trunks hooked around the tail of the elephant in ...

Advantages: Lots of staff, very welcoming and friendly Disadvantages: No Steve!
Whilst in Australia we felt that the trip wouldn't be complete without a visit to the now world famous Australia Zoo.
If you don't know about Australia Zoo, it's the home of the 'Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin who has a number of tv nature programmes, usually involving him jumping on crocodiles.
Seriously though, he's very much into animals and has a weird affinity with them whether it's cute koalas or the world's most venomous snakes. They just ... ...I was really impressed by Australia Zoo, not because of its famous owner but because it's well looked after, there are staff everywhere ready to answer your questions and the animals look happy and comfortable.
We arrived in the morning, along with several hundred other tourists, backpackers and school children, but it was quick through the gates and then free to wonder around the tree-filled grounds.
It's very easy to get to the zoo. We drove ...

Advantages: excellent hands-on encounters, great shows Disadvantages: sadly no more steve, r.i.p
I visited the Australia Zoo whilst travelling down the East Coast of Australia. Most people would visit it as a day trip from Brisbane, but if you ARE travelling down or up the coast, it is much better to make it a day trip from Noosa, as the zoo offers a free zoo bus service from Noosa if you book a few days in advance, whereas if you get the bus from Brisbane it costs you as much as the zoo entrance fee itself!
Obviously the zoo is naturally associated ... ...until his recent and shocking death this was the main draw for most visitors, as there was usually about an 80% chance that you would see him at the zoo, either just checking up on the animals or performing the croc show in the huge outdoor ampitheatre known as the 'crocoseum'. This was, at least, the main reason why i visited the zoo, but, although the man himself was not there the day I visited, it was still the best zoo I have ever been too- there ...

Advantages: Everything a zoo should be Disadvantages: none
The Australia Zoo is the number 1 rated zoo in the world, having a famous owner and main attraction Steve Irwin, with his decease in september of 2006, the zoo has gained even more recognision. It could almost be called a sanctuary, the exhibts and enclosures are top notch, they are realistic and prove a great home for the animals in them. The zoos staff is well trained and organizes the zoo exceptionally.
The Australia Zoo started as when Bob irwin ... ...as a crocodile farm and later with the help of steves show the Crocodile Hunter, was turned into a multi million dollar sanctuary. With open fields of kangaroos and the ability to house some of the most exotic animals from around the world.
Its latest addition would be the Croc-seum, which is a stadium in which a number of crocodiles can be brought into while doing a show for the public. When i visited the zoo for the first time i was amazed, i ...

When I was living in Brisbane we decided to take a tour to Noosa to see what it was like. At the transit centre in Brisbane out tour started. We were kind of confused as the tour was combined with the AustraliaZoo tour so we got stickers to identify who was who.
While driving to AustraliaZoo which was our first stop we drove past the Glass House Mountains which has been formed by volcanic activity years ago. To be honest if you blinked you would have missed them as the bus never stopped only the tour guide pointed them out they could easily be missed.
First stop where we changed buses (to a considerable smaller one) was Aussie world and Ettamogah Pub. Ettamogah pub is based...

Advantages: Beautiful country, interesting animals, many things to do Disadvantages: Long distances to travel
...scary rides at this park! Check it out.
Glasshouse Mountains: When you drive to the famous AustraliaZoo where the crocodile hunter works, you find some nice spots including Glasshouse Mountain. If you follow the tourist drive further, you can go to look-out points and take walks.
AustraliaZoo: My best experience ever! This zoo is huge and you can go into the cages of almost all the animals. Not only that, they take pictures of you and, as you are alone with only one other couple at most, you have plenty of time to ask as many questions as you like. However, each of these cage-visits will cost extra.
Surfers Paradise: The most beautiful beach you have ever seen! There is also a busy city-centre with restaurants and shops. Contra: Long journey if this is to become your favourite beach (about an hour by car).
City: Brisbane...
