Loved the red suits the stewardesses wore but not the red stockings - a bit of an overkill on the red!
Flew from Heathrow to Tel Aviv via Vienna with a group booking.
Arrived at the airport very early and waited for the check-in staff. Heathrow T2 was dead, no comfortable seating near the check-in and half of us were supporting the pillars trying to stay awake. Enough about Heathrow but may want to think twice about taking a very early flight.
Finally, on plane, hungry having been up half the night to discover on the first leg of the journey, Heathrow to Vienna (1hr 50mins) that the only freebie was a cup of tea/coffee/orange juice or water. We arrived in Vienna a little late and charged through the airport for our connection flight to Tel Aviv. Managed 5 minutes on a seat in the gate lounge before time to board next flight - still hungry.
Vienna to Tel Aviv much better. A meal, quite good I thought having not eaten on an airplane for quite some time - usually use low cost budget companies. It was chicken in a tomato based sauce with something like rice but not rice, with a cake for pudding and wine to drink if you wanted. Even had proper cutlery, not a plastic teaspoon in sight.
The film started (The Lake House) just after we had received our food so a careful balancing act of keeping the food on the fork between the drop-down tray and my mouth without falling on my clean, ready for holiday, jeans ensued, while looking up at the film which was shown on drop down screens hanging from the overhead lockers.
Can't fault the cabin crew at all. Always friendly and very efficient at their jobs.
The return journey, was slightly different. Tel Aviv to Vienna, again good food - Chicken in breadcrumbs, 5 slices of potato and about 8 green beans, bread roll and cake for pudding. I guess the portions are small because of storage but it was satisfying. However, there was no film - just 2 half hour comedies and an equivalent of Candid Camera. Somehow didn't make the time go as quickly as a film.
We left Tel Aviv later than scheduled and arrived in Vienna after boarding had begun for our connection flight. Fortunately because we were a large group they held the next flight for us. We were bussed with everyone else to the main terminal and as we entered the building were redirected out another door onto another bus. We thought we were going straight to the plane, however, even though we had not come into contact with anyone since landing we had to all go through hand baggage checks again before finally getting on the plane. The good news was that another passenger also arriving on a different delayed flight caught this connection because of our group. One wonders how many of their flights are late!
The last leg, from Vienna to Heathrow fared better than the outgoing flight. This time a meal, or should I say a snack - a slice of parma ham, 2 mozzarella balls, a pickled onion, small amount of salad with a pesto dressing, a bread roll and another cake! And another glass of wine!
On each flight instead of the customary stewardess safety talk a safety information film was shown. This was quite funny and held my attention.
The comfort of the seats wasn't too bad but then again I don't expect much after flying with the low budget airlines.
Would I use them again? Yes, if I wasn't in a hurry. No, if I was a travelling alone with a connection flight.
